Want to feel less stressed, or worried? To live in confidence, not anxiety or fear? We can help. You don't have to feel edgy or burned out. Your life can be what you hope for, not worry over. Making mistakes, having things go wrong, and needing to heal is part of life and being human. So is forgiving ourselves and others and trying again. You can always change direction. Take a new path to what you want, knowing that the person you are is always OK, you have a right to what you think and how you feel. The past doesn't have to doom the present. We can't change what's happened. But we can start where we are and make a new beginning.

Sometimes we come to a season in which we realize that our current ways of dealing with past
trauma
, connecting with people, or balancing life stressors just aren't working anymore. I am passionate about creating safe space within the counseling relationship to explore the circumstances that prompt us to reach out for help. It is my joy to help individuals tell their story, develop tools to use in coping with wounds and difficulties, learn self-accountability and gain momentum in pursuing strong mental/emotional health, and build toward the quality of life they desire.

I won't sugar coat the work it takes to heal the wounds of
trauma
, but I will tell you it is fully possible to have more belly laughs than the constant yelling and breakdowns in communication.
As the parent of a child/teen that struggles with their wounded selves, you have tried everything. The exhaustive interventions that you have tried are going nowhere fast. Throwing in the towel is all that you have left. Your marriage is more daunting than it is invigorating and you keep hitting a wall with connecting to one another. Depression has you stuck in quicksand and the struggle is consuming you. Anxiety has its grip on you and it is controlling your life. You find yourself asking what more can you do? You feel all alone in your struggles and are having more moments of frustration than joy. Asking for help is hard.

I have worked with victims of abuse,
trauma
, & toxic or abusive relationships.
Most people do not choose to struggle, to suffer, to feel overwhelmed or helpless. Most children do not want to have behavioral issues, and most couples do not want to have conflict in their relationship. It takes courage for a person to admit that what they are doing is not working. The most successsful client is the client that wants to be in therapy for themselves- one who wants to have a better life experience, one who comes to therapy seeking for answers and skills with which to change their interactions with others and themselves, and to improve their circumstances.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
