You may find yourself overthinking relationships, feeling responsible for other people's emotions, or noticing the same patterns show up again and again in your life. Many people come to therapy because something feels off. Relationships feel strained, transitions hit harder than expected, or familiar patterns keep showing up. I work with adults who want therapy that goes beyond symptom management. Often, clients feel stuck or frustrated by patterns they can sense but don’t fully understand, even when they’re trying their best. Together, we work to identify these patterns and make sense of what’s getting in the way of change.

I offer a compassionate and open environment to explore and release the obstacles that cause us to limit our full potential. I believe that we experience conditions such as anxiety, depression, etc. when we are living incongruently from our true nature or essence. Often times, experiencing these strong emotional symptoms is the first sign that we are living out of balance. The longer the imbalance is present, the more susceptible our bodies become to developing disease. Working through and releasing emotional blocks is an important step towards full integration of the body, mind, and spirit.

Do you ever feel like breaking down? Do you ever feel out of place? Like somehow you just don’t belong, and no one understands you? Thanks for the great intro pop punk band Simple Plan. But seriously, have you ever felt any of these things? I know I have. It is hard to have all these sucky feelings and have no one to turn to for support. Unfortunately, many people out there will say “Depressed? Isn’t that just a fancy word for feeling bummed out?”, which I am sure makes you want to scream. That is where I come in! -Only accepting clients ages 19 and up-

Most of the time we can manage the ups and downs of life without extra support. Then something shifts, and it can feel like it all collapses like a house of cards. Quickly, it can feel like you don't even recognize yourself anymore. None of the skills you were using to successfully manage your life work like they used to. You're overwhelmed and at a loss for how to get unstuck. At times even the seemingly tiniest of changes can shake us to our foundations, and leave us feeling adrift; but change is often the perfect opportunity to grow.

As a child of immigrants. I’ve learned the importance of co-existing in two different cultures and how that can impact one’s mental health. I deeply understand the learned narratives surrounding privacy even at the cost of your mental health. Because of this I sought out additional education and certifications in numerous trauma modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

If you are seeking therapy for gender identity and sexuality exploration, considering non-monogamy and cultivating your chosen family, and learning about boundaries and how to better show up for yourself, I would love to walk alongside you on this journey.
Currently telehealth only. Often people come to therapy looking to make sense of how their past experiences fit into the future they are crafting for themselves. I join my clients as a fellow explorer on this journey to write the next chapter and make meaning of their experiences. My therapy philosophy includes a social justice framework because I believe our stories are shaped by our cultural experiences, and often our problems arise from injustice and not personal failings. I am trained in trauma processing and modalities for provided evidenced-based symptom relief. I have clinical experience with neurodivergent affirming care.

We all need to be seen and understood, and it’s my goal to make therapy a space where that happens. I approach therapy from a place of getting that it's important to make sense of your experiences, know & feel that you are valid, & have a way to move forward feeling grounded in your authentic truth. I often work with people who have experienced trauma in relationships, a lack of emotional support in childhood, religious trauma, and marginalization. I can help with if you've been struggling to make changes you want in your life and relationships, have been overwhelmed by emotions, or don't ever know what you're even feeling.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
