I prefer to work collaboratively with my clients in treating mental health and substance use issues.
Therapy can be life-altering. Scheduling the first appointment is intimidating, but it can significantly improve your quality of life if you open your mind to it. Engaging in therapy with a qualified therapist can enhance your ability to handle life stressors, overcome distressing emotions, and deal with difficult relationships. It is my mission to provide a healthy, supportive therapeutic environment for my clients so they can empower themselves to take control of their lives and increase their emotional well-being. I believe you deserve to feel good about yourself and your surroundings. Let me help you achieve that.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families to address complex life issues, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, adverse life events, ADHD, grief and loss, relationship issues, and substance use .
Life is a journey. How often have you heard that? As we find our road through life, we all need inspiration and guidance. Having an outside perspective to navigate that journey can help us view our path through a different lens. It is my goal as your therapist to create a safe, supportive, and accepting environment for you to share your story. I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach for therapy. Whether it's learning coping skills, practicing mindfulness, or just having someone to talk to, I get it. Life isn't easy and you don't have to tackle this journey alone.

I am able to provide substance use and co-occurring evaluations for Nebraska Probation, the court system, and DOT evaluations.
Asking for help can be intimidating. Even if you've been to treatment multiple times, establishing sobriety can still be difficult. It can be just as difficult watching a loved one that is struggling with alcohol or drugs. Drug and alcohol problems look as different as the people they affect. I also work with those who experience stress related to other mental illness like anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and trauma. If your unsure about what to do next, or anxious about talking to someone, a phone call or an email are options of where to start.

You are 'Not' your problem. What do I mean? Stop identifying yourself by the challenges that have come upon you and led you to seek therapeutic services. There is nothing 'wrong' with you. Instead, 'what happened?' No one has sunk too low that they cannot change. Allow me the opportunity to empower, encourage and support your 'change', Mentally, Physically and Spiritually!

Unfortunately, everyone experiences painful events at times in their life. I enjoy working with people by addressing a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, substance use and other addictions, various types of trauma, relationships, divorce, unresolved grief, co-dependency, and anger management to name a few. I accept most insurance plans including Medicaid. A reduced fee is available for clients without insurance on a limited basis. Telehealth services are also available.

In addition to mental health issues, I am trained in substance use , addiction, and dual diagnosis, and can complete a Addiction Severity Index (ASI) with the client.
Mental Health is something that I personally struggled with, and got help for. My purpose in life is to help others like I have been helped. In fact, I not only see individuals, but also couples, and LGBTQIA clients. I am available for appointments via video only right now, and see clients ages 13+.

I utilize interventions rooted in evidence based practices: attachment style parenting, healing from trauma, and substance use counseling.
Let’s come together to discover your courage to grow, adapt, and prosper! Therapy is a beautiful process that empowers us to deepen our self knowledge and make breakthroughs in whatever is holding us back; whether things have gotten too difficult or you’re in a longstanding battle of feeling unwell. Your experiences, relationships, mental health and physical health can all have an impact on how you show up in your life. These experiences can build up over time and erode our sense of peace and confidence. Our relationships become strained and we begin to feel more isolated.

I am a dual diagnosis therapist, focusing largely on substance use and mental health, with a specialty in trauma work.
The world is a mess. Sometimes it seems like everything is completely falling apart and none of us know how to handle it. We aren't all the same, so why should we be expected to heal the same way? I will work to meet you where you are at, and support you in whatever way you find most beneficial.

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
