My ideal client is someone who has a desire to work through things and is open to hearing other points of view. Someone who will challenge themselves and create opportunities for discussion. My ideal client would be someone who has a belief system, whatever that is, and can grow from that. I feel as though a client that would work best with me would have an open mind, understanding that I am there for them, and know that I truly want the best and ideal outcome for them.

As a child of immigrants. I’ve learned the importance of co-existing in two different cultures and how that can impact one’s mental health. I deeply understand the learned narratives surrounding privacy even at the cost of your mental health. Because of this I sought out additional education and certifications in numerous trauma modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

I believe in incorporating a positive psychological and holistic approach to the individuals I serve. By incorporating an overall wellness and "whole mind/body" approach with individuals, I believe each person can get the best out of themselves through mental health therapy. I utilize evidenced based clinical counseling techniques such as ACT, Mindfulness, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and a variety of sport counseling/psychology modalities into practice. Lastly, I take an individual approach to every person I treat, knowing that every person is different and deserves authentic, genuine, and exceptional mental health care.

Especially in difficult times, it can be hard to find sources of acceptance, affirmation, and healing. Often the people closest to us - family, classmates, and co-workers, don't accept us for who we are. Perhaps we are gifted and see the world differently, in a new relationship and scared of old mistakes, navigating parenting or co-parenting, or are trying to better understand ourselves and our past. Whatever the reason, we also desire to be happy, whole, and loved - and especially to become something more than what we are. Trauma can hold us back at any age - creating negative habits and barriers to our growth and happiness.

I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD), where I conducted psychological and forensic evaluations for the juvenile court system. Following internship, I stayed with HCJPD, completing a forensic fellowship with the mental health and commercial sexual exploitation specialty courts. In this role, I evaluated youth for court suitability and served as an expert consultant in these areas.

My ideal client is one who is willing to be introspective and patient with themselves during the therapy process. It's important to "fix" the issue rather than put a Bandaid on the problem. I find that learning to dig deeper to get the root cause often yields the best results. My hope is that my clients feel comfortable being vulnerable with me. I want my clients to learn to trust themselves through the therapy process and feel like when they are ready to leave therapy, they have the tools they need to navigate their challenges with confidence.

Do you find yourself struggling with your moods? You know you could be happier, but you may need a team. As Yung Pueblo states, "I cannot make you happy, but I can commit to support you in the creation of your own happiness." If you have attachment issues and need to be able to better connect with others, if you want to achieve something and need a cheerleader, if you're needing help processing through a difficult experience, or if you just need that one person who you know you can count on, I can help.

Every person is unique and capable of realizing their potential in an optimal environment. However, life is filled with so many challenges and it is not unusual to feel discouraged or unable to meet those challenges. Building a relationship based on acceptance and trust with my clients is my priority. I listen carefully and help them develop an understanding of what has led them to unsatisfying thoughts, feelings and behaviors. We explore and identify how significant past experiences have shaped their present life. When working with teens, parents are essential part of the therapy and always welcome to collaborate.

As a therapist I enjoy working with a variety of groups. I do individual, family and couples therapy, but particularly enjoy working with teens and young women. I enjoy empowering youth while they transition through their developmental tasks and into adulthood. I enjoy working with individuals interested in overcoming obstacles and developing their true potential. I utilize a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches to meet the needs of my clients. With unconditional support, we can examine ourselves and learn to move forward to meet our personal goals.

I enjoy working with clients who are open to exploring their thoughts and emotions and seeking support to navigate mental health symptoms, relationship challenges, or feelings of overwhelm. They desire a safe space to understand themselves better and develop coping strategies through art and talk therapy. Their goal is to foster resilience, improve their relationships, and cultivate a sense of purpose. Ultimately, they want to achieve greater emotional well-being and a more fulfilling life, motivated by the hope of personal growth and deeper connections.

Today, there are many different ideas of what therapy/counseling is and what it looks like. Clients may come in with their own assumptions, but I’m a firm believer that therapy can be whatever YOU want it to be. Whether you’re seeking it out after a major life event, to help you cope through stressful situations, or any other reason, my goal is to tailor your experience to your wants, needs and aspirations.
I implement counseling strategies from theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Innerwork Counseling desires to partner with you as you take a journey inward that leads to self-awareness, understanding, and growth. We believe honest introspection and reflection combined with a safe, trusting relationship is what what we need to begin your healing process. We understand that with healing comes change, and for most of us, change can be uncomfortable. We ensure to make it more manageable by not pressuring you to make changes you’re not ready for, or move at a pace that feels unsafe. Our priority will always be YOU and utilizing an approach supportive of safety and trust.
