You might wonder if hypnotherapy is available in the midst of a pandemic - when all the therapists have switched to telehealth platforms. Yes, it is! We simply must plan carefully, so that the process remains safe and comfortable. While everyone's reaction to hypnosis is unique and personal - it has a potential of effecting powerful change for you. You can begin to face what you've been avoiding - and do so with more confidence. I strive to make your sessions productive, so that you make the progress you want. It's a big decision to start therapy - so don't hesitate to ask questions up front.

I now only work online through Skype. I have worked with a variety of issues over my 30 years in my profession. I have been an Adjunct Instructor in the UN-O Graduate Counseling Department, Consultant to area psychiatric programs, Director of Outpatient programs, and a presenter to a wide range of businesses as well as my outpatient practice. I like the diversity of my practice in terms of diagnostic features rather than a particular specialty. My many years of practice have allowed me to work with such a wide range of circumstances and issues.

The road we travel is not without bumps along the way. These bumps can be the loss of a job, loss of independence, end of relationship or death of a loved one. This may cause many overwhelming feelings of denial, anger or sadness. These are all normal feelings when dealing with life, however if you find yourself having difficulty overcoming these feelings it might be helpful to seek help.

I specialize in treatment for clients recovering from significant, acquired physical injury (e.g., traumatic brain injury, limb loss, orthopedic injury). Difficulties following such life-changing events can include depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, and PTSD among others. Most everyone wants to re-engage in a meaningful life post-injury, but sometimes even the possibility feels distant. Simply existing with significant pain seems hard enough. However, I feel confident there is always a next step toward our goals, no matter the situation, and I enjoy coming to know and support clients who are courageously taking the next step.

Alzheimer's Therapists
What are the first-line treatment options for Alzheimer’s disease?
The first-line treatment for Alzheimer’s disease is often medication, which may be prescribed based on the severity of the disease. These include cholinesterase inhibitors, memantine, or a combination of the two. Behavioral treatments can help people cope with emotional distress, such as anxiety or anger, and explore lifestyle changes related to housing, caregiving, sleep, and finances.
When to seek treatment for Alzheimer’s?
It’s best to seek treatment at the first signs of dementia. Early warning signs of Alzheimer’s include memory problems, such as forgetting appointments or directions, as well as trouble concentrating, paying attention, retrieving words, and carrying out daily household tasks. An early diagnosis can help people slow the progression of the disease with treatment and plan for the future in terms of housing, support, finances, and legality.
Are there specific medications to treat Alzheimer’s?
Medications approved by the FDA to manage symptoms of Alzheimer’s include galantamine, rivastigmine, and donepezil for mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, and memantine, donepezil, and the rivastigmine patch for moderate to severe Alzheimer’s. These drugs can help manage the disease, but no drug currently cures the disease. Medications recently approved by the FDA, such aducanumab and lecanemab may slow the disease course, but aspects of their effectiveness are still debated.
Are there natural treatments for Alzheimer’s?
Alzheimer’s disease cannot be cured via natural remedies (nor via medication), but some lifestyle habits can help forestall it or slow its progression. Lifestyle activities that can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease include regular exercise, a healthy, well-rounded diet, stimulating cognitive activity, time spent socializing, adequate sleep, and stress management as needed.
