Hello! Thank you for visiting my profile. I have been a therapist in the Omaha community for over 17 years. I have worked in a variety of settings including home-based services, intensive outpatient for eating disorders, school-based counseling services, and private group practice. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults. I combine both somatic and talk therapy modalities in counseling. I draw from a strength-based approach using cognitive-behavioral techniques. I am a Level 1 and Level 2 trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist. EMDR can help reprocess traumatic memories and heal symptoms related

Life seems really good, right? Your family loves you. You love them too. You love your job, have a great career, or you are are working towards one. yet you feel sad, scared, hurt and lonely. You want to be happy, joyful and hopeful about life.
Days and nights all run together and life seems meaningless and without purpose. Your relationships are not fulfilling. You have crying spells but you wear a game face like everything is going great.
It's time to find joy and happiness. it's time to build and enjoy nurturing relationships.

I treat adults and adolescents with addictive behaviors, depression, anxiety, oppositional behaviors, and/or trauma history. I also help to guide family members of those with addictions. I enjoy seeing the progress that people make in all areas of their life when they are able to put aside addictive behaviors, reduce their emotional pain, and genuinely feel better about themselves. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and have used it to help people heal from trauma and reduce overall anxiety. I also use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Theory in my approach.

“Where do you want to go today?” and “What should we talk about today?” are two questions I regularly ask my clients at the start of a session. Although straightforward and basic, I believe that those questions really get to the crux of what counseling and therapy are all about. I want you to leave your session feeling like you have been heard and that you have a plan in place to move you towards your goals. Therapy can be difficult at times but know that you will have a therapist who is honest with you, supportive, and sincere.

As a psychotherapist, I can assist you in unlocking your innate potential. In our busy lives we tend to lose perspective and neglect caring for the body, mind and inner self. In psychotherapy, you are assessed in a holistic manner using a biopsychosocial approach and together we work on areas of your life that are in need of examination and healing. You will feel safe and supported on your journey and will never be judged for being who you are. I enjoy working with clients from a diverse background and embrace diversity in my practice. I'm open-minded, compassionate, experienced (but not stuffy), and have a sense of humor.

It is my honor and privilege to bear witness to the stories of others through therapy. After working with hundreds of clients over the last decade who have faced anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and medical complications, it is my belief that the human experience is complicated and filled with both triumph and tragedy as we each make our own journeys. My goal as a therapist is to help you live your life to the fullest with intention and meaning, while also helping you to show up as the best version of yourself.

“Empathy is seeing with the eyes of another, listening with the ears of another, and feeling with the heart of another”-Alfred Adler We all have an innate need to be heard, seen and felt. It is my desire and goal to provide this kind of experience to each and every person I encounter. Some times, it doesn’t seem like there are enough places where we as humans can go to breathe, to be, and experience unconditional acceptance. As a heart-led therapist, it is my top priority to show acceptance and understanding to you, regardless of your past, beliefs, and lifestyle.

How can I find a therapist in Omaha?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
