I have 17 years of experience working in the mental health field in residential, outpatient, in-home, and hospital settings. The majority of that time has been spent working with individuals, children, and families dealing with trauma, abuse, relationship conflicts, depression, and anxiety, among other issues. My style begins with being person-centered. I don't believe there are cookie-cutter answers to life's challenges, so I begin by learning about you and what will best help you achieve your own goals.

' Saved to Serve Counseling values its relationship with the client.
You are 'Not' your problem. What do I mean? Stop identifying yourself by the challenges that have come upon you and led you to seek therapeutic services. There is nothing 'wrong' with you. Instead, 'what happened?' No one has sunk too low that they cannot change. Allow me the opportunity to empower, encourage and support your 'change', Mentally, Physically and Spiritually!

I have extensive experience working with children and families in the educational setting addressing mental and behavioral health needs. I believe relationship building is the foundation for a child’s development. All children grow and thrive in the context of close and dependable relationships. I use a mixture of mindful practice, strengths-based, solution focused, and cognitive behavioral approaches to allow the child to process thoughts and emotions. My goal is to assist children to address and resolve problems independently with confidence.

I specialize in working with teens and adults who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault.
Change is painful but nothing is as painful as staying stuck where you don't belong. We often feel stuck in the life we have because we don't want to move through the uncomfortable first. You may have experienced personal trauma, secondary trauma, or a bad run of luck in life. Those moments don't define your life. Every situation is getting you closer to the person you are supposed to be. If you are wanting to understand and process the uncomfortable, you are in the right place. In therapy, we will work together to process the past, find balance in the present and move towards peace for the future.

Despite common adages, words do hurt. Discouraging things said to us can cause painful memories that we need healing from. I understand the impact unhealed grief, past trauma, and abuse can have on your life. It can diminish your confidence, self-esteem, self-image, and relationships and can be a source of depression and anxiety. It is not your fault what happened to you; it is ultimately your responsibility to heal. I am a licensed mental health practitioner with nine years of experience providing Christian counseling services to individuals struggling to heal from relationship conflict, loss, past trauma, and abuse.

I believe we desire and deserve to live lives full of connection, purpose, fulfillment and love. This means feeling worthy from within and engaging in healthy, supportive relationships. Our self-doubt, critical voice, feeling not good enough and unhealthy relationships all get in the way of achieving this. I feel many of our current struggles are rooted in childhood stemming from our early attachments and the roles we have fallen into. To heal from within involves not only becoming aware of our unconscious attachment patterns but also courageously facing underlying emotions uncovered via the safe, vital therapeutic relationship .

I am flexible to accommodate most schedules. I believe everyone can benefit from therapy; at its core, therapy is about building a relationship in which we feel safe to embrace and become our authentic selves. Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
