Are you seeking greater happiness, a sense of peace, or more fulfilling relationships? Maybe you're feeling stuck in patterns that don't serve you or get you where you want to be? If you're looking to shift or change things in your life, let's connect. I have 15 years of experience in working with adolescents, adults, families, and couples. My background consists of working with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship issues.
I graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I have experience working with individuals and families having a wide range of symptoms related to loss and life transitions. I also have experience treating addictions, depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorders. I enjoy taking an evidence based approach to treating mental health using training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic approach.
Over the past twenty years, I have specialized in working with a wide range of individuals struggling with everyday challenges: anxiety, depression and trauma, to name a few. While working from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, I find value in utilizing EMDR. EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a psychotherapy treatment that is effective for resolving emotional difficulties caused by disturbing, difficult and frightening life experiences. Utilizing this protocol, I have been able to provide a valuable and effective treatment method for those facing challenges in their day-to-day life.
Are you depressed, stressed-out, feeling like life is out of control, and sometimes just like giving up on it all? You CAN live a happier and more fulfilling life. There is hope--at times like this, it's important to have someone calm, supportive and understanding to help you work things out. I have 2 Master's degrees and have been practicing gender-affirming therapy for over 25 years. Specializing in transgender issues, my style is both collaborative and compassionate. Together we can solve problems to help you and your loved ones lead a better life.
Life can be challenging. Finding the courage to talk to someone about those challenges is the best gift you can give yourself. My hope is to be a co-pilot as you make changes in your journey to overcome the challenges that life has given you. I am experienced in working with many life stages, including school age, adolescents, young adults, middle adults, and mature adults.
"The wound is the place where the light gets in." -Rumi The very awareness of your wound is the opportunity to allow the light in. Online Counseling- Audio and Video! With Meta Counseling, you say, "I can." This is an amazing first step when so much time has been spent saying "I can't." Take your life back, rediscover yourself, and promote change from within. I have an interactive, solution-focused approach. My goal is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary therapies, offering a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. I work with compassion and understanding to help individuals to build on their strengths and attain significant personal growth.
I enjoy helping children, teens, and young adults learn how to master their anxiety and worry so they can live according to their goals and values, not their fears. I aim to equip clients with the tools and strategies they need to successfully manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors long after their time in therapy has ended. I believe therapy is a collaborative process; a client's goals and values provide the framework in which we apply my mental health knowledge and treatment expertise.
My practice is guided by two basic principles. First is that we are more than the sum of our parts. Assessing physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of your life is crucial to reaching whatever therapeutic goals you have! Second, I firmly believe that change requires action. If you find yourself discouraged or repeating destructive patterns in your life, therapy can help you find solutions and discover how to move forward in a positive direction. Whether you are interested in addressing ongoing emotional distress, dealing with a life change, or seeking resolution to negative behavioral patterns, I can help you.
I provide a comforting, safe, and confidential environment, and work with people who are currently experiencing issues that are causing them to feel unhappy. My goal is to recognize each person's individual needs for therapy so they may find clarity surrounding their feelings, thoughts and relationships. I believe that therapy provides a safe place to receive guidance, through a nurturing therapeutic relationship, where they can explore issues in their life, set goals for change and healing, learn more effective coping skills and work towards greater fulfillment and happiness in their daily lives.
I have extensive experience working with children and families in the educational setting addressing mental and behavioral health needs. I believe relationship building is the foundation for a child’s development. All children grow and thrive in the context of close and dependable relationships. I use a mixture of mindful practice, strengths-based, solution focused, and cognitive behavioral approaches to allow the child to process thoughts and emotions. My goal is to assist children to address and resolve problems independently with confidence.
Often, those years of struggle are the most difficult, and we need someone to help guide us. Allow me to help you in your journey called life. My goal is that regardless of what is going on in your life, I can provide a safe space filled with hope, understanding, and trust where you can be comfortable in sharing your story. Larry Zier & Associates is a pediatric therapy clinic focused on the treatment of children with autism, sensory integration disorders, ADD/ADHD and learning and emotional challenges. We follow a relationship-based, developmental approach to therapy, DIR/Floortime.
This approach is built on the belief that development occurs within the context of the parent-child relationship. From this point the child develops the capacity to self-regulate, share attention, be reciprocal, explore and learn.
