My theoretical orientation is psychoanalytic, but I also draw from other schools of thought when suitable.
Every person is unique and capable of realizing their potential in an optimal environment. However, life is filled with so many challenges and it is not unusual to feel discouraged or unable to meet those challenges. Building a relationship based on acceptance and trust with my clients is my priority. I listen carefully and help them develop an understanding of what has led them to unsatisfying thoughts, feelings and behaviors. We explore and identify how significant past experiences have shaped their present life. When working with teens, parents are essential part of the therapy and always welcome to collaborate.

I have a unique style that blends multiple theories. I’m able to adapt to your needs and your style in a way that is most effective for your individuality. I am an honest, down-to-earth, funny, caring therapist. I keep it very real! I’ve been a mental health therapist for 12 years now and have been working with individuals, couples, and families for over 25 years. Does that make me sound old? Or experienced :)

Do you often feel overwhelmed, overthink, or get anxious? Trust me, you're not alone. I am a huge believer that talking about things (such as our emotions, thoughts, and worries) helps them to feel more attainable and approachable. I am here for all the fellow over thinkers and individuals who have struggled to express how they feel. In our sessions, we will face those things together because you don't have to face it alone.

I believe we desire and deserve to live lives full of connection, purpose, fulfillment and love. This means feeling worthy from within and engaging in healthy, supportive relationships. Our self-doubt, critical voice, feeling not good enough and unhealthy relationships all get in the way of achieving this. I feel many of our current struggles are rooted in childhood stemming from our early attachments and the roles we have fallen into. To heal from within involves not only becoming aware of our unconscious attachment patterns but also courageously facing underlying emotions uncovered via the safe, vital therapeutic relationship.

In therapy I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and caretaker alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.

Life can feel overwhelming when your thoughts won’t slow down, when old experiences still echo in the background, or when relationships and responsibilities begin to feel heavier than you can carry alone. You may find yourself trying to push through each day while feeling stuck, exhausted, or uncertain about how things got this difficult. In therapy, the focus is on creating a safe and grounded space where your experiences are understood without judgment, and where we can gently explore what you’ve been holding on your own.

You've been running on empty: anxious, exhaustd, depleted, and trying to hold it all together. You're the strong one - the helper, the emotional anchor, the high achiever - but your body is showing the cracks. Your hormones feel chaotic. You can't relax. The gut, sleep, and mood are all over the place, you've tried talk therapy before, but it didn't go deep enough, because your stress isn't only in your mind - it's in your body.

My approach leans into psychoanalytic and existential therapies.
I draw from a lifetime of personal and professional experiences walking with others and alone through difficult life transitions, facing challenging and vulnerable emotions, healing the scars of traumatic experiences, and finding stability, connection, and meaning when life feels unpredictable, isolating, and hollow.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
