Healing is neither linear nor neat, and many truths can co-exist: you can become someone new while still mourning who you were; engage in inner work and continue to be triggered; make mistakes and still practice self-forgiveness; and make progress yet still have difficult days. Healing is not about becoming more palatable, acceptable, or loveable; it is about growing in the ways you were always meant to. The parts of you that feel most misunderstood are the ones I’m most honored to hold. I provide a safe space that welcomes you to feel hurt, angry, sad, confused- whatever serves you- to feel seen.

***Telehealth Sessions Available. I believe in taking a systemic approach to therapy, focusing on how we are shaped by emotional, physical, social and spiritual parts of our lives. If one area is being affected the others will be affected as well. I help people look at areas in their lives where they feel stuck and help to create movement in those areas. Using the client's expertise in their own lives I help guide them in creating new, more meaningful and beneficial patterns in their lives. In turn this helps them to reach their full potential.

Everyone always says parenting is hard, but that it is so worth it… leaving you to wonder when that will be true for you and leaving you to feel guilty when you feel like screaming at your toddler for not listening, or pulling your hair out due to your child excessively worrying about nothing, or walking on eggshells around your moody teenager.
I work with children, adolescents, and parents, to equip them with the right tools and strategies to manage life’s current stressors. I believe it is just as important for parents to take care of themselves while children learn new skills to improve impulse control, emotion regulation, or interpersonal effectiveness.

I treat anxiety and OCD in individuals ages 5+, as well as teens and young adults experiencing low mood/depression who are at risk for self harm or suicidal ideation.
More than anything, I am here for the parents who worry. Few things in life are more painful than watching our children, the ones we have loved so tenderly, struggle to be accepted, to get back on track, to wrestle with their self esteem, with loneliness, fear, or even hopelessness. If you feel you are stuck watching a situation play out that you can't bear but can’t seem to change, help is here. Whether you are a new parent, in the thick of too many drop offs and pick ups, or preparing to send your child out into the wide wide world, now is the right time for positive change.

I was trained in an evidence-based generalist model with specific expertise and training in disruptive behavior, behavioral family therapy, behavior management/parent training interventions, ADHD and internalizing disorders in children and adolescents.
I work hand in hand with individuals and families to address goals and actively attempt to de-pathologize emotional and/or behavioral challenges that individuals struggle with. I work to actively engage those I work with to live a meaningful, valued life. I believe that my work with children often involves active involvement of family and caregivers whatever their title or status helping promote meaningful improvements. I value the need to listen to and respond to the needs of the individual or family that is present in my office and seek to help them accomplish goals as quickly as possible.

I believe in incorporating a positive psychological and holistic approach to the individuals I serve. By incorporating an overall wellness and "whole mind/body" approach with individuals, I believe each person can get the best out of themselves through mental health therapy. I utilize evidenced based clinical counseling techniques such as ACT, Mindfulness, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and a variety of sport counseling/psychology modalities into practice. Lastly, I take an individual approach to every person I treat, knowing that every person is different and deserves authentic, genuine, and exceptional mental health care.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
