Primarily working within a Neurophysiological Regulation Model, understanding of how others along with the environment effect our mind/body systems, equips individuals to find root causes of their distress: resolution of issues v. coping is performed. Additional practices I’ve incorporated provide an approach to resolve what trauma events have occurred in the past. Resolution by their criteria to move on from emotional triggers in the present.

Life can be stressful and with changes always happening an individual may feel confused or sad. A parent may feel that they have no where else to go to help with their child's behaviors. If you are needing tools to help yourself heal, and grow I am the provider for you.

Every person has the potential to create positive change in their life. Sometimes it can be overwhelming or unclear. Knowing where to start is often most difficult. Good news, you don't have to do this alone. When you start therapy with Krysta you're no longer navigating change or uncertainty on your own. I will work alongside you to clarify goals, identify strengths, and create a plan for true change in your life. I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families with various mental health and substance use diagnoses experiencing a variety of life changes and challenges.

The journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. Finding a therapist just might be that first step. I am a clinical psychologist who can help with issues including anger, trauma, depression, anxiety, sleep, adjustment and relationship issues. In order to help you, I need to understand your strengths and weaknesses and you have to get to know me as well, because without trust, you're not likely to make much progress. If you are ready to start the journey of healing, I would be honored to travel with you. One thing to know about me at the start is that I am a Veteran of the United States Army.

In my many years as a psychologist, I have worked with clients across the spectrum of emotional struggles. The one thing that they all have in common is that they are in pain and want to change through understanding what keeps them "stuck" and then identifying and drawing upon their inner strengths. For some, this will mean learning better ways to accomplishing specific goals, while for others, a deeper understanding of the painful experiences that have shaped their emotional development is necessary for positive change. In the end, the emotional pain that brings most people to therapy is about relationships that aren't working.

I was a Refugee in 4 different countries, 2 continents where I was expose to different cultures and learned the importance of being underdog and different from the mainstream cultures. With that in mind, I learned the importance of being a helper to bridge the gaps and leaned the importance of commonalities that bind us together as human beings. With this background, I was exposed to war and realized the importance of resiliency when it comes to coping skills, such as meeting one own's physiological needs, security and safety or dying and death.

I enjoy working with sensitive, creative, and insightful adults and adolescents, and those who are cultivating these traits. As a former teacher of the gifted, I discovered a passion for supporting those who may appear outwardly successful or are doing "fine," but who feel emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or struggle with addiction or identity challenges. Perhaps you are ready to let some of that out, let some things go, and to build some new skills for creating a more fulfilling and sustainable way of being.

I believe that the client should determine the goals for therapy, based on their particular concerns. Each client identifies how they would determine whether counseling was successful at the beginning of treatment. These become the therapeutic goals for our sessions. We typically meet weekly at the beginning of therapy and less frequently as therapy continues. Our sessions are 50 minutes long and we contract with most of the major insurance providers in the Lincoln, Nebraska area. We don't prescribe medications in our office and are happy to collaborate with medical providers and others (with a release of information).
