I believe each person is uniquely designed and extremely valuable. However, when life becomes painful or confusing, we can often lose sight of our way and our worth. As a counselor, I truly believe that working through painful moments can bring profound healing. I am honored when my clients entrust me with their stories and invite me to walk with them during difficult times. My therapeutic approach is one that focuses on getting to fully know and understand my clients while building a solid relationship. I desire to provide empathy and a safe space where my clients are cared for, valued, and not judged. You have a story that matters

My clients tell me that they feel like they launched into adulthood without the necessary tools to navigate life and relationships. As one client put it, "I feel as if I entered adulthood without a clear direction for becoming myself, succeeding in my marriage, or successfully parenting my children. But you've given me my map." I specialize in helping people understand how their past impacts their present, and then help them evolve and journey into their future with more confidence and useful tools for living a fulfilling life. At some point during our life I believe that we have all wanted to hear "it's ok", "me too", to be supported or reinforced through challenging times. I enjoy working with women who have been impacted with anxiety, broken love languages, executive functioning difficulties, cyclical issues surrounding their monthly cycle, maternal mental health, as well as, those who just need someone to talk to. I believe that in our society we have too many pressures of judgment and I strive to provide a free environment. An environment free from judgement, free from stress, and a place to find your best sense of self.

Sometimes we come to a season in which we realize that our current ways of dealing with past trauma, connecting with people, or balancing life stressors just aren't working anymore. I am passionate about creating safe space within the counseling relationship to explore the circumstances that prompt us to reach out for help. It is my joy to help individuals tell their story, develop tools to use in coping with wounds and difficulties, learn self-accountability and gain momentum in pursuing strong mental/emotional health, and build toward the quality of life they desire.

Being willing is a major factor to learning and growing through therapy. I provide a safe space for people to explore emotional, mental, sexual, physical, and/or spiritual concerns. Do you feel disconnected from yourself & others? Are you struggling with your identity & accepting yourself? Are you feeling anxious or fearful? Do you not want to feel that way anymore but are unsure as to how? You possess the answers. Therapy provides an opportunity to be seen, heard, and validated while you find your answers. I will help facilitate and provide guidance through this client-led process.

My name is Sara Campbell and I am so glad you are here. Starting therapy is hard and scary especially if you've had a bad experience with therapy in the past. Or maybe you have been struggling by yourself for so long, the idea of opening up and being vulnerable is difficult. I try my best to make it easier by focusing on building trust from the beginning (this means we go at your pace) and making your goals the focus of our sessions. I am passionate about working with the perinatal population as well as anyone experiencing anxiety, depression, or general life stressors. I also enjoy working with college aged students.

Hi there! I'm so happy you're here! Seeking help can be intimidating, but I'm glad that you're taking an active step towards improving your overall wellness. I take a holistic approach to the counseling experience where I focus on one's lifespan including their past, present, and future. While your past may play a role in who you are today, I am a firm believer that it does not have to dictate where you're going. We all may experience similar concerns throughout life, but this is YOUR journey and it is unique to you.

I became a therapist because your life is worth my time. I'm so glad you're here. Whether this is your first or fifth time seeking a therapist, welcome! Regardless of the reasons why you're interested in starting or continuing your therapy journey, it can be complicated to be at this stage of trying to find the right fit for you. I'm happy to help. I approach therapy through a collaborative and humble lens. I may have degrees and licenses that make me educated in this field but I am not an expert of YOU. So you and I will work together to make the changes you see fit and identify the areas of life you would like to improve upon.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
