I have been fortunate to work with diverse populations from families trying to deal with communication issues, to those dealing with the fallout of sexual addictions and couples experiencing betrayal or intimacy issues.
My heart as a counselor is to meet my clients where they are. I believe that we are all on a journey of growth with a desire to improve our emotional health. Every once in a while we get to a place where we feel stuck and sometimes being stuck is painful. That is where a qualified therapist can come into the picture and help you identify goals and process past hurts. I strive to provide a safe place where my clients can work through these issues free of judgement.

I also work with couples that have experienced infidelity and other relationship issues that threaten physical and emotional intimacy.
Life often comes with obstacles that are too overwhelming to tackle alone. Whether these may come in the form of traumatic experiences, inner struggles, relationship issues, or life adjustments, it can be difficult to seek extra support as you navigate through them. I work to help individuals, couples and families navigate their journey through life’s hurdles by helping them identify strengths within themselves and their relationships, and to find meaning in their challenges.

Welcome to Oasis Healing Hands Healing Minds where we focus on offering a rejuvenating escape from the pressures of everyday life. Throughout therapy, we will focus on what has proven most effective in helping to alleviate the stress and pressures that we all feel throughout our day. We will focus on allowing you to recognize how other’s emotions impact you and how you express your own emotions. We will work on exploring attempts to avoid distressing thoughts and feelings rather than confronting them directly. We will look to identify recurring themes and patterns of your thoughts, behavior, and emotions.

I am a true believer in the power of the therapeutic relationship .
Life can be a wonderful adventure, but it can also offer some bumps along the way. Starting or continuing any type of healing journey can feel overwhelming. It's so important you can work on this journey feeling heard, not judged, and supported along the way. Through the therapeutic relationship , clients I work with have a better ability to utilize compassion for self and others. In addition, we work together to challenge the thoughts, patterns, and actions that are preventing you from moving forward.

I work with individuals, couples , and families who seek to create positive, lasting changes in their lives.
I believe that the client should determine the goals for therapy, based on their particular concerns. Each client identifies how they would determine whether counseling was successful at the beginning of treatment. These become the therapeutic goals for our sessions. We typically meet weekly at the beginning of therapy and less frequently as therapy continues. Our sessions are 50 minutes long and we contract with most of the major insurance providers in the Lincoln, Nebraska area. We don't prescribe medications in our office and are happy to collaborate with medical providers and others (with a release of information).

Whether they be individuals in (and out of) the LGBTQA+ population, people suffering from anxiety, and those who are experiencing relationship or sexual issues.
Being willing is a major factor to learning and growing through therapy. I provide a safe space for people to explore emotional, mental, sexual, physical, and/or spiritual concerns. Do you feel disconnected from yourself & others? Are you struggling with your identity & accepting yourself? Are you feeling anxious or fearful? Do you not want to feel that way anymore but are unsure as to how? You possess the answers. Therapy provides an opportunity to be seen, heard, and validated while you find your answers. I will help facilitate and provide guidance through this client-led process.

The majority of my work has been with individuals, although I also have a great deal of experience in couples therapy.
I believe mental health is as important as physical health. It is my view that mental health can best be described as a spectrum - we are either in balance or out of balance. Currently the society we live in can make difficult for us to remain in balance, and we may find ourselves locked into thought or behavior patterns which prevent us from achieving the life we want. Therapy can help to restore our mental health equilibrium. My hope for my clients is that together we can identify and eliminate the disconnect between thoughts and behaviors so they can live a life filled with meaning.

Counseling provides a safe place to resolve many of the symptoms of emotional and physical stress related to addiction, depression, anxiety or trauma. Through relationship counseling, people learn how to reconnect after conflict and discover the power of truly listening to others in conversation. Helping people learn how to respond rather than react in close and intimate relationships, resolving conflict through healthy communication.

I specialize in anxiety disorders, marital distress, relationship issues, & I offer a unique insight into pre/postpartum issues; fertility; & loss.
I believe therapy offers people an opportunity to gain a better understanding of who they are, where they've come from, who they'd like to be, & where they'd like to go. Life can become overwhelming quickly. Too often people forget that it's okay to stop and ask for directions. As a therapist, I believe the most important part of the human experience is feeling comfortable in your own skin and feeling in control of your own life. When it all becomes too much, support from a therapist can be one of the most gratifying and rewarding experiences.

I often work with clients who struggle with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety, Relationship Issues, and Adjustment Concerns.
Hi there! I'm so happy you're here! Seeking help can be intimidating, but I'm glad that you're taking an active step towards improving your overall wellness. I take a holistic approach to the counseling experience where I focus on one's lifespan including their past, present, and future. While your past may play a role in who you are today, I am a firm believer that it does not have to dictate where you're going. We all may experience similar concerns throughout life, but this is YOUR journey and it is unique to you.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
