I believe counseling can be used for many things... Addressing a crisis or trauma, identifying a goal & developing a path toward it, resolving current concerns and even sometimes helping to clarify why you feel differently than you used to. You are the expert on your life. My job is to help you fine tune that expertise and develop skills that contribute to you leading the life you want. I am not here to give you advice or tell you what to do, but rather to work with you as you address the challenges, questions or concerns you may be facing.

Throughout my life, schooling, and work as a therapist, I’ve learned a lot about people and the importance of connection. I believe in the power relationships can have in the healing process, so I not only enjoy working with families, couples, and individuals to improve their relationships and individual functioning, but I also strive to be someone with whom my clients can have a strong connection. My belief is that such a client-therapist relationship gives space for vulnerability and promotes change.

Hi there! I'm so happy you're here! Seeking help can be intimidating, but I'm glad that you're taking an active step towards improving your overall wellness. I take a holistic approach to the counseling experience where I focus on one's lifespan including their past, present, and future. While your past may play a role in who you are today, I am a firm believer that it does not have to dictate where you're going. We all may experience similar concerns throughout life, but this is YOUR journey and it is unique to you.

Welcome to my practice! I specialize in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and related disorders. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder involves experiencing distressing, intrusive thoughts. Intrusions are paired with repetitive behaviors. Themes include contamination, causing unintentional harm, perfectionism, religion, relationship, sexual orientation, and "bad thoughts" (violent, sexual, taboo). When addressing OCD, my preferred method of treatment involves Exposure Therapy with Response Prevention. Individuals with Hoarding Disorder experience significant distress when discarding possessions. Avoiding this distress results in an accumulation of items that intrude on one's living space. In treatment, it is important to address both acquisition and factors that interfere with discarding.

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is learn how to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. It takes courage to be vulnerable, and it takes courage to realize you may need some help. I provide therapeutic services to individuals and couples who are struggling with coping, depression, anxiety, low self-worth, trauma, and addiction. I also provide Substance Use and Co-Occurring Evaluations. Calling a therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you can take a moment (and a deep breath) to see how I can help.

My passion for working with others to find solace in their life has spanned a period of 21 years; both as a therapist & a school administrator. No matter who we are, there are obstacles & roadblocks that we need help overcoming. Sometimes, we need someone with whom we can bare our soul; sometimes we need reassurance that our thoughts are reasonable; sometimes we just need someone to listen. Life does not always turn out how we imagined. I have the background, skills, and experience tohelp others get as close to that imagined life as possible.

BlueCross BlueShield Therapists
BlueCross BlueShield insurance provides coverage for behavioral health services in Lincoln. BCBS HMO-style plans cover in-network providers while PPO plans provide a benefit that can be applied to either in-network or out-of-network providers. Blue Cross Blue Shield may not require a referral from your primary care practitioner for covered behavioral health services.

Some BCBS Therapists in Lincoln only have room for a few insurance slots in their schedule, so it's important to confirm in-network availability when you book your first appointment.

Blue Cross Blue Shield companies are independently owned and community-based healthcare insurers. BCBS is the largest health insurer in the US, covering 110 million members in 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. Nationwide, more than 1.7 million health care providers contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies.

Here’s a link to more information on how insurance works to cover behavioral health benefits.
