Do you often feel overwhelmed, overthink, or get anxious? Trust me, you're not alone. I am a huge believer that talking about things (such as our emotions, thoughts, and worries) helps them to feel more attainable and approachable. I am here for all the fellow over thinkers and individuals who have struggled to express how they feel. In our sessions, we will face those things together because you don't have to face it alone.

For the past 10 years particularly, I have primarily focused on working with parents and children who suffer from unsafe, traumatic, and tragic situations.
In the famous words of Eric Matthews, (BMW) “Hey bro, life’s tough, get a helmet!” If only it were that easy, right!? This statement from my old sitcom obsession hit deep the first time I heard it, but has really engraved itself deeper the older, more experienced with life I have gotten. I’ve learned very quickly and/or the hard way that walking around with a helmet on wouldn’t make much of a difference at all and would probably just add to the stressors and hardships of life. Today’s world is different. Today’s world is hard. Today’s world can be scary. But most importantly, you don’t have to go through today’s world alone.

I love children, and especially appreciate the opportunity to work with young children and their parents.
I have specific experience with young children, and had a postdoctoral specialization with two to six-year-olds. I especially enjoy this age because I feel that if they have a positive experience in counseling now, it will carry with them for the rest of their childhood.

The first thing that anyone says when describing me is, “Alyssa loves her work!”. I’m not only good at providing my clients with a listening ear in times of need and skills to better help them navigate these challenges, but I also really enjoy doing it. I believe that everyone deserves to be heard, to feel that their struggles and challenges are valid and to know that they are not alone.  During my time working in the mental health field, I’ve gained valuable skills in communication, understanding, and patience that I bring to every session.

I provide a safe, compassionate space for children, adolescents, and adults to process emotions, heal from trauma, and build resilience for those moments when life feels “too much
Life is a journey full of stories, some we’ve chosen to create and others that were created for us. Your story may be easy or difficult, joyful or painful, filled with pride or touched by guilt or shame. Whatever chapter you’re in—or thinking about opening—I honor your bravery and courage for taking this step. Maybe you’re stepping into independence for the first time, starting a new career, feeling uncertain about the future, navigating parenthood, experiencing grief or relationship stress, adjusting to changes, feeling lost in what your next chapter might be, or simply trying to make it through each day- I am glad you are here.
