My expertise is in anxiety and depression, trauma, grief, and with military associated individuals and families.
Life is continuously presenting us with new challenges, often causing us to question our decisions or how we will manage such obstacles. This uncertainty can lead to complicated emotions that may seem too overwhelming to manage alone. Genuine support and guidance, as well as a safe, non-biased environment may be the answer to overcoming these battles and gaining a sense of peace.

Out of Office 5/25/24-6/14/24; Contacts made during that timeframe will be returned the week of 6/17/24. Everyone has a story unique to one's own experience - sometimes those stories involve trauma, heartache, hurt, anxiety, and uncertainty, which can often feel overwhelming to face alone. I have experience working with clients of all ages and walks of life. Each client is considered worthy, purposeful and is treated with compassion. I enjoy serving adolescent females and adults who are working through past traumas, current life stressors and who want to learn practical methods to manage anxiety.

Do you desire to be able to freely live your life, to reach your fullest potential, and to be able to feel fully accepted and cared for in the process of doing so? I would be happy to support you and walk beside you, as you discover who the "real you" might be, and what you are wanting in life. Your story is your story- and I want to help you to own that story. To feel genuine pride in how far you have come, and continue to go. To have a feeling of hope for better days to come, strength to let go of what may no longer serve you and what has been holding you back from living the ultimate life of your wildest dreams.

I enjoy empowering youth while they transition through their developmental tasks and into adulthood. I utilize a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches to meet the needs of my clients. With unconditional support, we can examine ourselves and learn to move forward to meet our personal goals.

It is important to have a warm, safe place to discuss personal issues; a place where you can let your guard down and be accepted. Regardless of your stage of life, or the situation, your pain is real and can impact your life in many different ways. When faced with difficulties in your personal or work relationships, struggles with parenting, or any life transition, I believe that healthy and positive growth can result from a compassionate therapeutic relationship.

Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship and addiction are the areas in which I have special interest, professional and personal experience.
I work best with adolescent and adult clients who appreciate a direct, to-the-point approach. I give lots of feedback and make my thoughts known. This approach tends to open up awarenesses that may have been unknown for a very long time. It is exciting to see this process unfold in individual psychotherapy.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
