A powerful opportunity is created when an individual decides to explore the areas of their life they would like to change and/or improve and then collaborates with a professional partner to reach those goals. Counseling comes with many preconceptions, unknowns and even fears. My passion and commitment is to meet you where you are with empathy, compassion, and a genuine care for your health, wellness, and life goals. My approach is to walk with you as you navigate the concerns of the past and todays struggles. Then to consider opportunities and evidence-based treatments which can ease or address these challenges.

Hi there! I love that you are thinking about starting therapy. I applaud you for your courage in doing so, I've done it myself and it's never easy! In fact, part of why I became a therapist is because it's hard to find a good therapist and so I wanted to fill those gaps. My ideal client is someone who is already somewhat self reflective, introspective and mindful of their own behavior patterns and wanting to expand on this knowledge and have someone else who is unbiased to hear them out. Life is chaotic and crazy, but can also be beautiful. I enjoy being there for the ups and downs, and sharing in the joys and the sorrows with you.

Feeling heard and validated is important for self discovery and growth. Reaching out for help can be very difficult at first. We all know that taking care of ourselves physically is important and now we know it is as important to take care of ourselves mentally and emotionally. Going to therapy is like going to the doctor for a cold or to the gym to gain some physical strength. The challenges you face deserve the very best care; together we can develop a strategy for better life satisfaction. I offer a relaxed, down‑to‑earth therapy style.

Life can be tough, and sometimes the challenges we face leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or disconnected. If you're feeling stuck or struggling, it may be a sign that something needs to change. Everyone deserves to have a fulfilled and meaningful life, but finding the right path can be difficult, especially when life feels uncertain.

A large part of my practice focuses on men's issues such as work stress, relationships, depression, life transitions, parenting, and more.
Who’s life are you living anyway; the one you chose, or the one you were told to follow? So many people, especially men, push through life on autopilot, meeting expectations, checking boxes, and wondering why they still aren’t happy or why it still doesn’t feel right. You might be doing your best, yet still feel stuck, disconnected, ignored, or overwhelmed. You’re tired of not being seen, heard, or validated. The truth is, real strength comes from pausing long enough to ask yourself the hard questions—and giving yourself permission to heal and grow in your own direction, without judgment. "He who is brave is free." – Seneca

I specialize in men's issues but welcome all clients.
Thanks for your interest. I believe that all people have worth and the potential to cultivate a life they are content with. My approach to therapy is based on the view that much of our suffering stems from unhelpful ways of thinking. Through critically examining how we think, we can replace unhelpful ways of thinking with rational & helpful ways of thinking—leading to healthier emotions and behavior. In therapy, we will explore this and other evidence-based approaches. If you are apprehensive about starting therapy, rest assured that my aim is to provide a confidential & non-judgmental space where you will feel comfortable.

My area of expertise is with men's issues, anger management, first responders, immigrants, current & former athletes, people questioning gender & sexuality and working members of the queer community.
As a child of immigrants. I’ve learned the importance of co-existing in two different cultures and how that can impact one’s mental health. I deeply understand the learned narratives surrounding privacy even at the cost of your mental health. Because of this I sought out additional education and certifications in numerous trauma modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
