Hello! My name is Liz and I appreciate you taking time to learn more about me. Navigating grief, loss, or trauma can feel overwhelming — sometimes even impossible to face alone as you try to find your new normal. These experiences can be incredibly difficult to talk about, and it’s completely okay to feel unsure or overwhelmed. We’ll take small steps together. There is no right or wrong way to grieve or to process trauma. Your experience is unique, and we will always move at your pace.

Let’s be honest: life can throw a lot at us. Sometimes it’s the big, painful things that leave a mark… and sometimes it’s the quiet, everyday stuff that slowly builds up until we realize we’ve been carrying more than we thought. Therapy is a space to finally set some of that down for a while — to breathe, make sense of what’s been happening, and start feeling a little more like yourself again. Together, we’ll explore how your experiences have shaped your emotions, the patterns that may be holding you back, and the parts of you that long to be seen and understood.

What I have come to understand about life is that, generally speaking, we want to live authentically. We want to belong, to be seen, heard, and felt. We all want to know that we matter and that we are here for a reason. My purpose is to help you understand yourself at a deeper level, let go of what no longer serves your best interest, and find practical solutions to help you move toward the person you were meant to become.

Are you the "fixer" or the "peacekeeper" who's secretly drowning in anxiety or trauma? On the outside, you have it all together and you are the one everyone leans on. But on the inside, you're exhausted from chronic worry, disrupted sleep, or using a drink or gummy to finally "turn off" your brain. That relentless inner critic whispers you are never good enough, your "fawn" response makes saying "no" feel impossible, and guilt piles up from burdens that aren't yours. These aren't just symptoms. They're the hidden costs of over-functioning for others while neglecting yourself, often rooted in trauma or Complex PTSD.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
