Hi! I’m Caitlin. I am a strong believer that we are who we are because of our relationships, environment and experiences. I enjoy helping people make connections and gain insight into themselves to overcome life’s challenges. The clients I work with often start in a place where they feel stuck, misunderstood, or alone in solving their problems. I help them by breaking things down into small, manageable steps that ultimately empowers them to make change through self-love and intentional action.

Anxiety and self-doubt. For women it causes issues at work, at home, and in your relationships. You worry if you’re enough, if you’re doing enough, and how you can make it better. You’re exhausted and it’s hard to keep going and be motivated. You’re not the best at taking care of yourself and often end up being last on the priority list. No stranger to the words “workaholic” or “over achiever,” you put a lot of time and energy into your work. Friends and family members have said “I don’t know how you keep it altogether.” You may have worn this as a badge of honor once but lately something has changed.

My goal as a therapist is to support you. I strive to create a safe space to process your feelings. By talking to someone neutral like myself, you have the ability to feel safe to open up and work towards your goals at a pace that works for you. It is my job to assist you in finding answers for yourself through our conversations. Client goals may include talking about your past, working through current conflicts in your daily life or making plans for your future.

We, as humans, naturally want to avoid what is uncomfortable. People that find themselves reaching out to me for therapy are highly critical of themselves or do other things that do not work long-term like isolate, avoid, push things down, overthink, overeat, drink, just to name a few. I see many people that struggle with the ability to regulate their emotions or try not to have them. I see many people that struggle with all-or-nothing thinking or actions. If you can't do it all or be perfect, you find that you don't do it at all or you harshly judge yourself for it.

I've long thought the visual of crossing waters to be an excellent metaphor for the path that lies ahead in many of life's difficult situations...and the work done in the therapy room. Desired destinations, unexpected storms, and unknown territory. I view my job as coming along side to help you gain your bearings while we, together, clarify where you are in your journey and develop a plan for moving forward. Whether you are facing long-standing familiar struggles that continue to hinder you or encountering frightening situations for the first time that threaten to unravel your life as you know it, you need to know there is hope.

You might be seeking therapy because you feel like no one has your back, that you just can't handle how much crap keeps pilling up on you, because you doubt your ability to manage the craziness of life, the heaviness of it, the complications of family that you love, but who don't always treat you with love and care, you feel weighed down by "failures" and unable to see your strength and successes despite surviving one hard thing after another, and often with limited or poor support. Or maybe you just feel broken and that no one else cares. The truth is most people aren't broken. They may have hearts or minds that have been sprained, but with the right treatment, they can heal. When people come to see me who feel that "no one cares about them" I'm always reminded of how important it is that AT LEAST ONE PERSON cares...and the fact that they got to my office tells me that the MOST important person they can have rooting for them in their life CARES - THEY CARE. They care enough to get the support they need. And that's the first step to widening that circle to create healthy connections so that they don't have to carry that care alone.

Dealing with anxiety can be difficult. Fortunately, research has shown many strategies that can help alleviate some of the worry and discomfort. When we combine these techniques with a practice of self-empowerment, the possibilities of healing increase tenfold. One of the best things that we can do for ourselves is to learn to recognize, embrace, and utilize our inner strengths. My counseling service is designed to help you find your inner champion while providing you with teachable tools that you need to overcome current and future obstacles.

Individuals and couples who come to me are usually feeling frustrated and stuck in a variety of ways, and are unable to see how to move ahead. We begin by working together to find a shared understanding of their difficulties from which we chart a path toward constructive change. My listening with respect and understanding can be helpful in itself. The assistance of a trained eye can reveal patterns of behavior and emotional reactions which are self defeating for my clients. Constructive alternatives to these patterns can then be considered and practiced with my guidance.

Nothing is more fulfilling than seeing my clients begin to embrace and celebrate their own uniqueness, truths, and perspectives in life. Clients sometimes say they feel stuck, broken, or in disarray. I believe that under these feelings are resilience and power to be discovered and utilized to meet their goals. Clients may not realize how strong and remarkable they really are. I provide an atmosphere of empathy and compassion where we can explore their strengths together. I believe that clients are the experts on what they need in therapy; I am simply there to provide them with tools and support to help them meet these needs.

It is an honor for me to have the opportunity to help others work through personal, relationship and life issues by way of developing a strong therapeutic relationship. My primary goal in therapy is to establish and maintain a safe, trusting and accepting environment. I work from primarily ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) frameworks. Both of these therapies use Mindfulness strategies and other skills to "get you out of your head" and into living life to the fullest.

Are you or your relationship in a slump? Have you tried therapy before and felt like you didn't get any feedback? Have you had a hard time connecting with your therapist? These are the complaints I hear consistently from clients about previous therapy experiences. I work very collaboratively with my clients to help you learn to rely on yourself and your natural support systems to begin feeling better about life. I encourage all of my clients to find their own ways to manage difficult emotions and find happiness and contentment in their life.

I believe the most important relationship you have in your life is with yourself. We spend so much time and energy on other people, but it is just as important to put that same energy back into your own wellbeing. Often people find themselves at a point where they feel stuck or frustrated about their relationships, careers, families and even themselves. During those times, it can be immensely helpful to allow someone else to help us reflect to move forward. Today’s world can be very stressful, and I am honored to help people navigate the struggles of balancing all of life’s challenges.
