I prefer
Psychodynamic
Therapy, as this gets quickly to the underlying cause, the real issue(s), blocking us from living in our full potential.
I can see the potential for true "health" in every individual and am positive and excited about each client. I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, an MFT license, an MA in Counseling Psychology, an MS in Secondary Ed/Business, & a BS in Fash Merch/Sciences. I was always led to the power of the mind and the cause/effect of family & other relationships on mental health. Psychology is my true calling, gift, and passion. Everyone needs to briefly uncover perceptions from the past and recognize how these perceptions can block us from living a balanced life in the present.

I utilize different treatment approaches depending upon the needs of each client, often incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and
Psychodynamic
Therapy.
I provide therapy to people struggling with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, PTSD, life transitions, ADHD, perinatal and postpartum depression. I also help clients who need help with managing conflict, maintaining boundaries, and improving communication skills. If you are going through a divorce, I can assist with the grief process. Therapy is a collaborative process that can only be experienced in a safe and trusting relationship, so finding the "right fit" therapist is crucial to the success of therapy.

For couples, I am Gottman trained, but also approach therapy through a
psychodynamic
lens to more effectively uncover unhealthy overcompensating patterns.
As a trauma informed and TFCBT certified & state rostered licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, I can help you heal your wounds and learn healthier mechanisms to better cope internally and relationally. I can work with you as your therapist or personal coach. In any case, I will work closely with you to provide a safe and confidential space which you may use for your own personal growth. Are you struggling in your marriage/relationship as a couple? We often overcompensate due to untreated injuries or traumas, repeating the same patterns that don’t work. Let’s learn to heal to better connect to our true authentic selves & others.

I provide
psychodynamic
therapy to individuals (ages 14+) and couples. This type of therapy addresses the underlying causes and meanings of unwanted symptoms and dysfunctional patterns. It heals by bringing unconscious content to consciousness and by fostering deeper relationships with parts of ourselves we previously ignored, denied or even disdained.
Psychodynamic
therapy is often well suited for those who haven’t responded well to other types of therapy.

I've long thought the visual of crossing waters to be an excellent metaphor for the path that lies ahead in many of life's difficult situations...and the work done in the therapy room. Desired destinations, unexpected storms, and unknown territory. I view my job as coming along side to help you gain your bearings while we, together, clarify where you are in your journey and develop a plan for moving forward. Whether you are facing long-standing familiar struggles that continue to hinder you or encountering frightening situations for the first time that threaten to unravel your life as you know it, you need to know there is hope.

Are you feeling stuck, frustrated, or disconnected? Has something in your life become unmanageable? You've probably tried talking with your family and friends, only to feel more frustrated and confused. Thinking about the future is hard because you feel discouraged. You are stuck in a routine that is holding you in place. You have probably noticed that your relationships are suffering because you feel disconnected; you do not have the same eagerness to connect with your loved ones because you are using all your energy to make it through the days. The things you used to enjoy are a distant memory.

Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. Our experiences in life although similar are still very individual and unique to each of us. It is normal to experience anxiety, fear, anger and sorrow however; when these emotions are extreme they can prevent us from being fully alive, spontaneous and joyful. It is during these times we may need assistance to better understand ourselves and make necessary changes. I commonly treat individuals and couples with anxiety, depression, addictions and relationship difficulties that successfully resolve the issues causing these symptoms.

**Telehealth sessions are available.** It's important to me to cultivate a safe relationship space with everyone I see in counseling. We will collaborate, question, reflect, and explore positive directions based on your unique situation, concerns, strengths and individual sense of meaningfulness. Although my comfort zone within the range of life is relatively broad, I do have some special interest in areas related to substance use, family counseling and all facets of pre/post natal concerns.

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
