I specialize in treating relationships. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with individuals, couples and families seeking fulfilling, peaceful lives. The majority of clients are individuals and couples seeking answers to have better, more meaningful relationships. Therapy starts withy understanding current struggles in a "systems" framework. We look at patterns; of affection, conflict, repair, relating, reacting. Common issues include: communication, infidelity , feeling a lack of respect, divorce, parent/child discord, and relational harmony goals. Therapy is provided with warmth, thoughtfulness and empathy.

Kevin Bacon was once asked, “What makes your marriage last?” He didn’t miss a beat: “Clean fighting and dirty sex.” He has a point. The way a couple fights truly impacts their health and their relationship. There are additional influences that create disharmony between two people. Loss of connection, loneliness and conflict avoidance are all precursors to infidelity . I work with couples in crisis from the recent discovery of betrayal and/or past addictions and other relationship struggles. Healing won’t be easy, but it is possible. It’s a painful journey that will take time. I work to make that journey easier.

Cheating , infidelity , lies, and secrets. Have you discovered that your partner has been unfaithful to you? You feel despair, hopeless, and powerless. Confusion, rage, and hurt have set in. You have been betrayed at the deepest level. You can hardly breathe. The pain is unbearable. You are not sure what is real or not. You are questioning everything. Even blaming yourself. You are asking: How did this happen? How did I not know? You need answers. You can’t sleep, eat, or make decisions. You have reached your breaking point and need someone to help you understand what has happened while you walk toward your recovery and healing.

Something hurts in your relationship. There's a tension that wasn't there before, maybe one that has been creeping up for years. You feel like you can't say what you need to, and even when you do the words don't come out right. What was once laughter and passion, has turned into silence and space. Maybe your trust has been broken. Maybe you don't know why you keep repeating the same bad habits in your relationship. Maybe that self-assurance you felt as a part of your relationship has suddenly become filled with jealousy and insecurity.

We will collaborate, question, reflect, and explore positive directions based on your unique situation, concerns, strengths and individual sense of meaningfulness. Although my comfort zone within the range of life is relatively broad, I do have some special interest in areas related to substance use, family counseling and all facets of pre/post natal concerns.

I love to help individuals and couples navigate all aspects of relationships (with themselves and others). I bring a down-to-earth, relatable, fun, and comfortable approach using masterful coaching skills. Keeping in touch between sessions, allows clients to get real-time feedback as they navigate life challenges. Learn how your attachment style affects your relationships, gain a deeper understanding of your values, enhance your communication skills, and work towards changing deep-rooted patterns that no longer serve you. My background in Human Development and master's degree in Psychology aid my work as a Board Certified coach.

Is your relationship not living up to its fullest potential? Are you having trouble connecting with your partner? You’re not failing. A relationship isn’t a failure because you’re having trouble connecting. You’re just simply having a difficult time understanding one another. The truth is that we won’t always understand each other, as we each have our own distinct personalities, wants, needs, and desires. Relationships, intimate and familial, are such beautiful and powerful things, but they also come with a lot of stress. It is my ultimate goal to help you, help you and yours.

A colleague once told me that sometimes you just have to validate your client by saying "life sucks". Hi, welcome, I am happy you are here! I have been working in the field of mental health for over 20 years. My experience includes a variety of work settings, including community mental health, school guidance, contract mental health and private practice. Along with my psychiatric facility dog RUPP, I use an integrated, person-centered approach to therapy that first establishes therapeutic rapport to determine goals and objectives.

NOT ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS AT THIS TIME. My passion is driven by my work with people who struggle with depression, anxiety, addiction, codependency, low self-worth, women's issues, and toxic relationships. I also have a special place in my heart for working with counselors who are committed to improving their own self-care and emotional health. My hope is that by providing a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental space, people will know that they are being heard and what they say matters.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
