I work with women , couples, teens and children struggling with life transitions, relationship/family issues, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and stress management by using evidenced based models with a conversational approach.
Hi! I’m Caitlin. I am a strong believer that we are who we are because of our relationships, environment and experiences. I enjoy helping people make connections and gain insight into themselves to overcome life’s challenges. The clients I work with often start in a place where they feel stuck, misunderstood, or alone in solving their problems. I help them by breaking things down into small, manageable steps that ultimately empowers them to make change through self-love and intentional action.

I have supported many women , teens, and college students in these areas.
Dealing with anxiety can be difficult. Fortunately, research has shown many strategies that can help alleviate some of the worry and discomfort. When we combine these techniques with a practice of self-empowerment, the possibilities of healing increase tenfold. One of the best things that we can do for ourselves is to learn to recognize, embrace, and utilize our inner strengths. My counseling service is designed to help you find your inner champion while providing you with teachable tools that you need to overcome current and future obstacles.

It is my goal to walk alongside you to help you regain your sense of purpose in life and find hope for the future. I believe that our relationship is the foundation for the counseling process and will seek to strengthen it by providing a relaxed, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment so that you feel comfortable sharing your story with me.

I especially enjoy working with women and children who have experienced abuse of any kind.
Are you a human? Great! You can benefit from therapy. Only semi-joking. On a real note, if you are anxious, depressed, stressed, unable to sleep at night, scared, mentally absent, have low self-esteem, experience flashbacks, nightmares/terrors, misuse substances or have a loved one that missuses substances, have difficulty focusing and staying on task and/or have a child that has ADHD, experience anger outbursts and/or abrupt mood changes, carry around childhood wounds from which you have never healed, have difficulty adjusting from a life-changing event, or are riding out the waves of grief, then you are a good fit for therapy.

There I gained experience as a counselor at a women 's college, a social worker in a psychiatric hospital and a psychotherapist.
Hi, I'm Cheryl. I have 15+ years of experience as a Clinical Social Worker/therapist. I see therapy as a process of introspection with compassion. Within therapy, one learns to listen and respond with compassion for oneself and others. In therapy, one can develop the ability to expand awareness and be more flexible in making life choices. My specialties include depression, anxiety, loss and grief, relationship issues, gay and lesbian issues, and trauma. I use a blend of cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic models and work with individuals, couples and groups.

Anxiety and self-doubt. For women it causes issues at work, at home, and in your relationships. You worry if you’re enough, if you’re doing enough, and how you can make it better. You’re exhausted and it’s hard to keep going and be motivated. You’re not the best at taking care of yourself and often end up being last on the priority list. No stranger to the words “workaholic” or “over achiever,” you put a lot of time and energy into your work. Friends and family members have said “I don’t know how you keep it altogether.” You may have worn this as a badge of honor once but lately something has changed.

Our therapeutic experience will be a more interactive one. Whether you want to chat about current stressors, or have made the decision to work seriously on long-term goals for personal improvement in your emotional life, we will work together to determine where best to begin. In addition to working with clients around traditional counseling concerns such as depression, grief, loss, anxiety, stress, and addiction, I also focus on other challenges clients face.

Together, we can work to help you better manage these changes and integrate new roles - helping you feel empowered and more like yourself.

I specialize in working with parents of all children, including those who are medically complex or have special needs, women who are pregnant or in the postpartum period, and individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and difficulty adjusting to life transitions.
There is something in your life that is getting in the way of you living your best life. You might feel like you are surviving instead of thriving. Your day to day tasks and responsibilities may seem overwhelming and exhausting. It can seem daunting in today’s world to manage your obligations at home, work, school, with family and friends, and yourself. Perhaps you have intrusive thoughts that cause uncomfortable feelings like shame, guilt, embarrassment, sadness, or anxiety. Maybe it is hard to focus, complete tasks, sleep through the night, escape from nightmares, interact with others in a fulfilling way, or find peace.

Many women struggle with anxious feelings, isolation, and stress. Too often, though, such feelings are pushed by the wayside. With kids to care for, a career to maintain, and a home to manage, women often find it hard to hold it all together. Similarly, young women in college face intense deadlines and the novelty of living on their own for the first time. Even with a network of trusted friends and family members in place, it can be difficult to keep your head above water. During especially turbulent and unpredictable times, it’s useful to have a professional to turn to for guidance in authentic, unbiased ways.

How can I find a therapist in Wilmington?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
