Are you where you want to be in life? Are you happy with your situation? Are you happy with yourself? Sometimes people aren’t even sure what it is they want but they know they want something to change. That is why I am here. I became a marriage and family therapist in 2009 after watching family and friends struggle with the pressures of today’s society and with keeping relationships together in a world that has become increasingly mobile and dependent on technology.

Outside of being a therapist, I am a parent to my son and 2 cats.
Nice to meet you! Alright, buckle up, because we are diving into the rollercoaster of your thoughts! Picture me as your emotional tour guide. I see the masks you wear and encourage them to shed off. Life’s messy and therapy with me is like embracing the messiness with open arms with a toolbox full of wisdom nuggets. I know we haven’t met, but I already trust you. I trust in the goodness of all parts of you, in your ability to face your fears, and in your already present, compassionate self. I’d be honored to remind you of these strengths while you start a journey towards healing – you. I am direct yet compassionate in my approach.

Modern parenting is equally challenging as we juggle providing for our families, maintaining our careers, and nurturing kind, resilient children.
When we're already juggling so much, simply adding more self-care activities isn’t a viable solution. But it is possible to create sustainable strategies that can help us ground amid the chaos. Together, we can rekindle that feeling of being truly present in both professional and personal life so you can attend to what matters most to you.

Parenting through these significant life moments can be HARD and can leave you wondering if you’re making the right choices.
Though life can be difficult and processing emotions can feel overwhelming, I try to keep a fun approach in sessions by implementing silliness, joy, arts/crafts, music and games. My hope is that our hour together feels safe and inviting.

You're realizing you’re feeling drained, on edge, overwhelmed, you're wasting time on mindless distractions, and have lost sight of the parent you are or wanted to be.
Part of how I do this work is through providing insight and education around what’s normal (spoiler alert: what you’re experiencing IS normal!), and through humor, compassion, fostering self-exploration, offering feedback, and trying out new ideas together. I'm a big fan of journaling and homework, if you are open to it.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
