If you are seeking help for trauma, we will talk to determine if EMDR is an appropriate modality for you.
When you are feeling overwhelmed by life, a therapist can help you. You know that you want to feel better - and be better for yourself and others - but when you have been doing the things that have always worked in the past and find they are not working now, it may be time to enlist the support of a therapist. I love to work with people who feel overwhelmed, stuck, sad, anxious, indecisive, or have any other painful emotion. Instead of feeling stuck, I want to help you feel empowered to move forward and help manage those painful feelings.

I help people transform their lives through creatively practicing mindfulness, guided imagery, expressive arts, somatics, CBT, ACT, and EMDR.
I believe all of our experiences can enrich us once we find meaning and reclaim our purpose after traumatic experiences, grief and loss, natural life stage transitions or decisions to make big changes. I help clients understand how the brain strives ever toward survival, and to use that understanding to transform old thought patterns that have kept them stuck in the past. I work with people on the premise of reorientation and resilience, that our brains can and do evolve all the time. We will explore the importance of context, including developmental stages, relationships, and conflict of values. I also offer Supervision to LCMHCAs.

I use a variety of techniques tailored to your specific needs: EMDR, thought restructuring, emotion processing, trauma focused, coping skills, relationship skills, and more.
You do so much every day and yet, somehow it isn't enough. You're constantly thinking about how to do better, to feel happier, to accomplish more, to make that relationship back to how it used to be, but you find yourself in the same patterns anyway. You feel stuck. You aren't sure how to move forward, or if it's even possible. Most of my clients come to me in the deepest, darkest places of their lives. They are feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Often this has starting seeping into their relationships and jobs, and soon everything feels unmanageable. Take a deep breath; you’re here, and together we can work to untangle the mess.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
