Helping women recognize their inner strength, overcome, and thrive beyond trauma, abuse, addictions, and tragedy is a calling in my life.
I integrate Christian/spiritual therapy with mental health counseling in nature, online, community, and office settings. Initially, we will explore what brought you to therapy and ways to address your needs. Throughout therapy, we will examine how your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and spiritual wellness impact you life and how they can better your life.

I specialize in serving adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, challenging life transitions, domestic and/or sexual violence as well as substance use and addiction.
It is my sincere hope that you will leave our sessions feeling more inspired through greater personal insight and tangible skills that can be applied in your daily life. Therapy is not a mysterious process where the counselor holds The Answers. Therapy is a collaboration between a therapist and client who both show up and do the work.

I have experience working in Intimate Partner Violence as well as working with children and adolescents ages 8 & up.
Life in the modern world is deeply overwhelming, distressing, and upsetting at times. I do not believe that human beings were designed to handle so much stimulation without support. I specialize in treating individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, DV/IPV, and navigating healthy relationships. I incorporate approaches including DBT, CBT, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based stress reduction, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention. My approach to counseling is to offer individuals a space to be themselves without judgment or shame, but instead with curiosity and compassion.

I specialize in treating Trauma & Substance Abuse.
Often those things in life that are most difficult are natural parts of life, known as givens – Freedom, Death, Isolation, Meaninglessness. Being confronted with these givens can create anxiety, which can lead to significant consequences. Everyone who looks for a therapist does it because there is something that is blocking their happiness. It might be something external that caused you to look, but you have it within you to set yourself free. Waiting for the world, your boss, your significant other to make things better for you gives someone else control over your happiness.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
