Are you where you want to be in life? Are you happy with your situation? Are you happy with yourself? Sometimes people aren’t even sure what it is they want but they know they want something to change. That is why I am here. I became a marriage and family therapist in 2009 after watching family and friends struggle with the pressures of today’s society and with keeping relationships together in a world that has become increasingly mobile and dependent on technology.

When you are feeling overwhelmed by life, a therapist can help you. You know that you want to feel better - and be better for yourself and others - but when you have been doing the things that have always worked in the past and find they are not working now, it may be time to enlist the support of a therapist.  I love to work with people who feel overwhelmed, stuck, sad, anxious, indecisive, or have any other painful emotion. Instead of feeling stuck, I want to help you feel empowered to move forward and help manage those painful feelings.

I work with teens, adults, and families seeking to improve relationships (with themselves and others), family dynamics, emotional well-being, anger/stress management, parenting, and anxiety/depression.
I believe that we are all our own most valuable asset. Pouring into yourself should never be stigmatized, but it can be daunting. When you decide to seek help, I know that it is not being taken lightly. I'd be honored to go on this mission with you and look forward to watching you achieve your goals! I incorporate a safe LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC-affirming space.

My specialties include anxiety, anger management, depression, grief, life transitions, healthy relationship skills, and past trauma or abuse.
A client once told me, “Finding the right therapist is like finding the right boyfriend,” and while therapy isn’t intended to be a long-term commitment, there are some similarities, including the need for trust, safety and compatibility. Clients often share with me things that they don’t tell anyone else, and it is important to find the right fit – someone you trust who has the skills to help you work through your specific struggles. I have been working in the field for over 20 years, and see adults (ages 18+) in individual counseling.

Anger, anxiety, depression, parenting, school behavior issues, confidence, self esteem.
I specialize in shifting your relationship with anxiety. One of the bravest things you can do is to explore your own patterns and notice the ways they do or do not serve you. Maybe you keep hitting the same wall in your relationship to your self and with others. I commit to support you in noticing your strengths and finding compassion through depth work. Together we will grow joy and presence in your life, while learning to attend to, and possibly resolve, unhelpful feelings and patterns. I believe in finding space to be ok in our humanness, while also staying accountable for telling ourselves the truth.

Be brave and address anger, self-esteem, grief, emptiness.
One of the biggest challenges in our hectic world is finding peace of mind. Engaging calm in the often stormy sea of life is an important skill and is definitely an uphill swim against the stream of our culture. I call it a skill, because it can be learned.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
