My lived experience as a neurodivergent parent, LGBTQIA+ community member, and second-generation American of Hispanic heritage deeply informs my work.
Do you feel like you’re just white-knuckling it through the day? I work with adults navigating life's multiple challenges, whether you are a college student, a new parent, in recovery, or living with neurodivergence and chronic illness. Maybe you're struggling to connect to your true self and others, or your trauma history is getting in the way of feeling safe in your body. You and I will start from square one by building safety together first, before we work on the heavy stuff. We can take a body-based direction, a solution-focused direction, or a little of both. You are the expert on your own experience; we go at your pace.

My focus is supporting those experiencing anxiety, depression, panic, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, suicidal ideation, women's issues, LGBTQIA+ support/affirmative care, and stressful life circumstances.
Sometimes making it through the day is an uphill battle. The things you love no longer feel enjoyable, day to day tasks feel impossible, and existing itself is becoming exhausting. Or maybe you're starting to feel like your emotions are taking over and making your life complicated and overwhelming. You've tried to make changes but no matter what and how hard you try it just doesn't seem to be getting better. It feels like it's no longer possible to deal with it all. If this sounds familiar, I can offer knowledge and skills to help manage difficult emotions and stress so you can pursue a life you feel is worth living.

Do you have something on your mind? There are times when we all have thoughts running through our minds. Thoughts related to family, friends, relationships, school, love, spirituality, money, work, or happiness. Sometimes they are memories from your past that you're unable to let go. Maybe you can't sleep, maybe you can't eat. Maybe you have lost your purpose, who you are, what you're doing or why. It could be big, or just a small thing you want to let go. These situations can slow you down and pull your life to a stop.

You are not too much, too weird, or too different- you just haven’t found the right therapist yet!
I have heard some version of this story so many times from clients: they were told their needs were too complex, their previous therapists seemed to struggle to connect with them, and they left sessions feeling more pathologized than understood. I’ve lived it myself. As an AuDHD person with chronic illness, I know what it’s like to move through the world in a body and brain that doesn’t always cooperate with what’s expected of you.

Hi, I’m Eileen (they/them), a queer, nonbinary therapist who’s endlessly curious about people’s stories.
My approach to therapy is integrative and relational. I draw from parts work, DBT, ACT, and person-centered frameworks, while also incorporating knowledge of the nervous system. I work with an understanding of how trauma, oppression, and minority stress shape emotion and attachment, and I aim to create a supportive, affirming space for healing and growth

Therapy is a place to dream, scream and put it all back together again. You will arrive, again, to a place where you know that you are worthy and you do not have to hide. There is a future where you are welcome without wearing a mask. There are people that will show up for you. The real you. You deserve to find them.

Voted Utah's Best Therapist 2022 + 2023. My approach centers the wisdom of our body, nature + relationships as valuable components for healing. Under enough stress, all humans make adaptations to survival. These survival strategies do a great job when they are first learned, but when continued outside of the context of their creation, they may reenact + reinforce patterns that are no longer helpful. We work together to identify where patterns began, what behaviors/beliefs were learned for emotional and physical survival + how we can create new ways of interacting in the world that feel more aligned + sustainable.

I work with clients who identify as LGBTQIA as well as folks who identify as kinky, polyamorous or queer.
Sometimes who we think we are "supposed" to be and who we are in our truth don't always line up causing anxiety, depression, conflict in relationships and career. Recognizing and allowing the true self to emerge is empowering and challenging. I will work collaboratively with you to discover this truth and build skills and refine strategies to support you along the journey - uncovering your strengths, your desires and empowering your True self. We will chat, move, breathe, and write. The body is the anchor -sometimes we forget how wise and rich it is. We will see if we can rediscover this truth. I think we can.

I provide queer/hetero/poly/monog/ENM/ace/kink-friendly counseling and strive to create a welcoming environment for all.
I'm trained in evidence-based methods including ACT, CBT, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Together we can build skills (e.g. mindfulness, communication, self-compassion) to make life easier while working to gain insight and break out of old patterns. I use humor (appropriately, mostly) and give direct feedback with compassion.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.
Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.
How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.
Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
