You can be capable, accomplished, and still feel emotionally exhausted. I work with adults who are high-functioning on the outside but carrying anxiety, relationship stress, emotional overload, or burnout beneath the surface. Many of my clients are professionals, caregivers, or partners who are used to being strong and dependable often for everyone else while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves. My work focuses on helping individuals and couples understand patterns, strengthen emotional awareness, and build healthier boundaries without shame or pressure to “fix” themselves. Therapy with me is thoughtful.

I have a passion for helping kids, teens, young adults, and parents. A former lawyer, business executive, and educator, I blend unique life experiences with a compassionate approach to therapy. With six kids of my own, I empathize with young people and parents alike. On a personal level, I also love to travel. Having explored over 30 different countries, I realize the importance of cultural diversity and how it enriches our understanding of the world. My experiences shape my counseling practice as I strive to connect with clients from all walks of life. I also enjoy coaching youth sports, dark coffee, and a good book.

If you’re here, congrats. Chances are you realize something needs to change. Often times people come to therapy after they’ve already exhausted every resource and option they know. It’s a huge step to ask for help and an even bigger step to show up and take it.

Do you feel suffocated by others’ expectations, afraid or unsure of how to ask for help, overwhelmed with commitments, unable to take a break, like you’re just trying to survive the day? Maybe you’re fed up with struggling at school/work and with getting so easily overwhelmed. You might not even remember a time when things didn’t feel this way. One thing is for sure though. You’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to make sense of what’s happening to you and take back control. Most of all, you’re ready to regain balance in your life so you can finally breathe easy again.

My training and education makes me a good fit for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, trauma, grief, life stressors and parenting difficulties. Many of my clients tend to be female identified individuals aged 29 to 55 seeking change in their lives - however, I enjoy working with male identified individuals, particularly if they have never done therapy before. I provide affirming care for LGBTQIA+ adults, and I’m committed to creating a safe space for all people exploring identity, gender, and sexuality across the spectrum.

You present to the world as high-achieving and put together. But there’s more to you than that. There’s a larger, more complicated person beneath the competence—parts of you that don’t feel as polished, certain, or in control. Some of those parts you hide from others. Some you even hide from yourself. If you’re looking for a therapist who can help you lower your guard—while also feeling uneasy about what might surface when you do—we might be a good fit. My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that managing mental suffering begins with understanding it.

Throughout our journey in this world, we often face challenges that can feel too big or ongoing to handle on our own. Whether it’s with chronic feelings of anxiousness, depression, emptiness, issues about sexual orientation, gender, or ethnicity, relationship conflict, sleep disturbances, substance misuse, school/work issues, or any combination of those, many of us struggle silently. But you don't have to struggle silently or alone. It can help to work with a therapist with a deep understanding of what it’s like to live with these struggles and who is passionate about helping others learn to thrive despite their adversities.

Even though you're high-functioning, successful, and intelligent, you can’t quite reach your partner(s) or family members. Maybe you “get” what's wrong but struggle to implement the tools you already possess. I can help! My passion lies in relational work with marginalized folx (LGBTQ+, people of color, ADHD and autism). Regardless of your background, therapy with me looks like having a “communication translator,” so you can identify stuck cycles, access a deeper understanding of yourself, and connect with your loved ones more vulnerably and intimately.

Are you surrounded by people, yet no one SEES you? You feel lost, misunderstood, maybe even invisible. You smile and say, "I'm fine," but inside, it's like screaming underwater—loud, and unheard. You tell yourself you'll be okay, but believing it is hard. Admitting you're struggling is hard. Are you asking for help, and still being overlooked? That hurts worse. I work with Millennials and Gen Z who are ready to stop hiding. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, nerds, and geeks — you're safe here. No masking. No pretending. Just a space to build YOUR version of happy. Reach out — you deserve to be seen & I am here to help you take up space!

Throughout life, we may find ourselves feeling lost, unsure of where to go or where to start. We may feel disconnected from ourselves and others. We may come to realize that past experiences have shaped our worldview and how we relate to and connect with others. We may recognize patterns within our family system that we want to break, but aren’t sure how. Through therapy, we can regain an understanding of ourselves by reconnecting to feelings of safety and belonging, and instilling hope for the future. We can learn to utilize our emotions as a skill to strengthen our relationships and establish secure attachment patterns.

Secular and Non-Religious Therapists
What is a secular and non religious approach in therapy?
Secular or non-religious therapy is a theoretical orientation used by many therapists and describes a therapeutic approach that does not rely on any specific religious or faith-based beliefs in the therapeutic process. Secular counselors will often approach therapy with an emphasis on evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients, instead of relying on religious practices, such as prayer or belief in God.

Is secular therapy primarily for non-religious people?
Both religious and non-religious individuals can benefit from secular therapy. People exploring their religious or spiritual beliefs may find it especially useful to work with a secular therapist who is unbiased toward any specific religion. While religious individuals might value the connection and familiarity of seeing a counselor who shares their beliefs, secular counseling can offer them the chance to develop coping skills independent of their religious practice, which can be beneficial in various aspects of their lives.

Can a secular approach to therapy help with religious trauma?
One major reason clients may seek a secular therapist is to process previous religious experiences, including religious trauma. Secular therapists can help clients manage symptoms of the trauma through practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They can also encourage clients through talk therapy or psychodynamic approaches to explore the roots of their religious trauma. Since secular therapists do not have any predetermined religious beliefs, they can be particularly helpful for clients looking to explore their own religious beliefs following a history of religious trauma.

What does non religious marriage and premarital counseling involve?
Marriage and premarital counseling typically involves a couple meeting with a therapist to discuss topics such as planning for marriage, navigating a new marriage, addressing relationship challenges, and developing better communication and conflict resolution skills. Non-religious therapists assist couples in achieving these goals without adhering to specific religious beliefs or frameworks, often emphasizing inclusivity and non-judgment, especially for "nontraditional" couples. However, seeking couples therapy from a non-religious counselor does not mean religious topics are off-limits. In fact, non-religious couples from different religious backgrounds may benefit from a secular therapist who remains neutral toward the beliefs of each partner.
