Humanity thrives through relationships, yet these same relationships often spawn challenges creating various levels and types of mental distress. Mental distress leads to second guessing, criticism of self and others, even hopelessness. As a result, gaining a guide to support personal navigation through the situational dynamics are desired in order to gain insight and skills to be confident in steps forward to a better life.

I am intensively trained in DBT and have over 20 years of mindfulness experience.
When faced with anxiety or life's challenges, you often wonder if there is anything you can do to truly feel better or transform yourself. It seems like you’ve tried everything, and nothing has worked. Strong emotions are causing other issues -trouble relating with others, over/under eating, problems with work or family relationships or even more serious issues. At times, relationship struggles leave you wondering "should I stay or go?" but it can be hard to navigate this alone. The "real you" is in there, but hard to find. Life's challenges sometimes require a confidential, safe perspective and a space to release old burdens.

My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while drawing techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT) and other modalities to meet your specific needs.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, or life changes, therapy can be a space to pause, reflect, and heal. I work with teens, emerging adults, and adults to help them better understand their emotions, develop effective coping strategies, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Life can unravel quietly or all at once. Maybe you’ve been holding everything together for too long, or you’ve hit a point where the stress, sadness, anxiety, or constant overthinking feels heavier than it used to. You might be wondering how you ended up here, why things feel so overwhelming, or why it seems like no one truly understands what you’re going through. You don’t have to navigate this alone. I work with individuals, couples, and families who want to feel more grounded, more hopeful, and more in control of their emotional world.

At Bright View Counseling we are breaking the traditional mold of talk therapy and counseling and bringing a new, brighter idea of what therapy could and should look like with our ‘Therapy With A Twist!’ approach. Our therapy approach is holistic, humanistic, and person-focused. We bring the power of the natural world into the therapeutic process. We take walks outside, participate in outdoor activities with clients, and integrate activities and games. We also get a helping paw from our office dog, Charlotte, who comes into sessions to provide a furry friend to hug, pet, and receive emotional support from.

I have received advanced training in both Trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Life can be challenging, and we are not meant to travel it alone. Each of us, at times, needs another person to walk alongside us as we sort things out. I am honored to serve in this role, working with you through life's difficulties, transitions, tragedies, and triumphs. Very few challenges are insurmountable. Sometimes it just takes some added support.

Call for an appointment if you struggle with ADHD, anxiety, chronic illness, surgery preparation, prenatal or postpartum depression, relationship challenges, stress management, life skills, life transitions, insomnia, or want to create a healthier lifestyle. I blend Eastern philosophy with Western psychology in my holistic practice. If you have tried traditional therapy and have not found relief, I'd love the opportunity to help you become the best version of yourself. I regret to inform potential clients that I have been and continue to be on medical leave. I will update you when I can practice again. Thanks

Accepting new clients. I help women who have discovered infidelity connected to a partner’s sexual addiction or pornography use. Many come to therapy after uncovering secret sexual behaviors, repeated betrayal, or online affairs and feel shocked, anxious, and unsure of themselves. They often experience betrayal trauma symptoms such as hypervigilance, panic, and loss of trust in their own judgment. My work focuses on supporting the betrayed partner first, helping them stabilize emotionally and move forward with clarity, whether they stay, separate, or are still deciding.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
