I became interested in psychotherapy in my young adult years, as I searched for meaning. During my own personal experience with psychotherapy, I discovered how a skilled and caring psychotherapist can influence change and provide healing. With over 15 years of experience, I have developed the necessary skills and competence to address a variety of conditions, including anxiety and depressive disorders as well as addiction and trauma. I offer evidenced based approaches such as ACT, CBT with a background in Gestalt therapy. I specialize in a developmental somatic psychotherapy model which affords awareness to body in the here and now.

Sometimes it feels like no one truly gets it. You’ve lived through things you didn’t deserve, and now you're trying to find a way forward. You’ve been pushing through, showing up for others, and doing your best — but inside, you feel drained. You’re not broken; you’re human. If you’ve been feeling unbalanced, disconnected, or stuck, you’re not alone. Life’s stressors can dim even the brightest light. You deserve more than survival. You deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment — to be reminded that your life matters simply because you're you. Your pain is valid, your story matters, and your healing is possible.

Your grief is welcome here. Every type of loss has the potential to be life disrupting, but grief experienced after suicide, overdose, or other traumatic loss can be particularly challenging. After someone you know dies, you may feel: shock, confusion, doubt, crushing pain, heartbreak, loneliness, despair, anxiety, overwhelm, anger, guilt, and isolation. Your life has been turned upside down in an instant. You feel lost. You may not even be sure who you are anymore, but you know you won’t be the same. You’re looking for a guide. Someone who gets it and can handle what you’ve got going on.

Do you feel unfulfilled in your life, like something is missing? Are you hiding certain behaviors from friends and family? Are you struggling with self-esteem, anxiety or depression? Are you using unhelpful coping mechanisms such as substance use, shopping, gaming/internet, or gambling to cope with those struggles? It is difficult to understand the "why" of our thought processes and behaviors on our own. Therapy is a powerful tool that can help you work through understanding your "why" and assist in handling life transitions, achieving goals, or finding relief from symptoms of depression, anxiety, or substance use issues.

Therapy is such a vulnerable process and opening yourself up to the possibility of change can seem scary but I assure you it can also be really exciting. Giving yourself the gift to move past events that may be making you feel stuck can mean the difference between that weight staying on your shoulders or finally lifting. You can offer your nervous system the opportunity to respond differently as you learn tools to help. If you are ready to work with a therapist that will help navigate you to the deepest parts of yourself, to find and get to know your true self, and be free of negative thoughts & emotions, then please reach out.

I aim to create a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship while my clients work toward wholeness where they feel wounded. Symptoms of anxiety or depression often usher us into difficult life change that can eventually lead toward improved emotional health. I work from an eclectic theoretical orientation using attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Narrative-Focused Trauma Care, and faith if clients desire. I utilize Strengths-Based theory with teens, which is an evidence-based approach to suicide prevention. I specialize in teens and work well with high-performing women who struggle with anxiety.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
