Serves Area
My journey is rooted in specialized training, encompassing areas such as trauma (specifically ART), support for military personnel, TBI, chronic illnesses, depression, couples therapy (through the Gottman Method), SPMI.
Have you ever felt stuck in life, wandering in a head space that feels jumbled and confusing? We have all been there at some point, and navigating though the tough times is much easier with a little help. I recognize that mental health isn't just a destination—it's a path we walk together, hand in hand, toward a brighter tomorrow. I can be your sherpa through the journey, providing a helping hand when life trips you.

Selecting a therapist can be a trying task, often during a difficult time. Obtaining an initial appointment quickly, same day returned phone calls, and being promptly seen as scheduled facilitates a smoother process. The therapist provides a bridge to move your life forward in more satisfying ways. This requires a safe therapeutic space, building a solid alliance, dependability, support around your concerns and achievements, identification of core conflicts, and experiencing growth in constructive, meaningful ways to enhance your internal self-understanding and life-fulfillment. If this is the experience you are seeking, I could be a good fit.

Life can be overwhelming, confusing, disappointing, and painful. Life can be very fast-paced, and can be very difficult in knowing how to keep up. If you’re feeling depressed, or having difficulty with friendships/relationships/family/job, therapy can help. Are the experiences earlier in your life impacting you now? Is it difficult to make healthy choices? Do you have anger issues? Do you struggle to share emotions that are natural and more vulnerable? Therapy can aid a person in making healthy choices, and improve daily decision-making.

I am passionate about joining my client’s care team and supporting them in reaching any wellness goals they have. I work to build a trusting relationship with my client and work collaboratively to create a treatment plan and identify strengths and barriers to achieving it. I believe that one of the most important factors in treatment is the strength of the relationship with my clients, so I want to ensure they feel comfortable and safe from the start. My faith and beliefs have taught me the importance of walking alongside clients through difficult times and helping them to live healthy and successful lives.

I have been working in the mental health field for over 18 years with a variety of clients, including children and adolescents, families, and adults. I enjoy utilizing an eclectic approach to treatment, recognizing the uniqueness that each individual brings to treatment. I specialize in the treatment of exposure to trauma, providing treatment to survivors of sexual violence, childhood abuse, domestic violence, and military combat trauma. When addressing the needs of those who have survived trauma, I focus a great deal of attention on the neurological effects of exposure, as well as the mind and body connection.

Taking the step to begin therapy (or to begin therapy again) is not an easy one and I applaud you for doing it! I believe that one of the most important reasons therapy is successful is the positive relationship built between therapist and client & I think it matters to find a therapist who meets your needs and provides a space where you feel most comfortable to get to work. My approach in session always leads with curiosity about your experience and the ways you have learned to navigate it, with the goal of providing a warm, creative and open space that is free of judgment.

If you’re seeking support and thinking, "Life has been good. Shouldn’t I be happy?" - you’re not alone. I’ve heard these words from clients countless times. Other clients find me because they know exactly the harms that bring them in - some for the first time, others wondering “Why is this bothering me again?” The stress of trauma (and every-day stresses) can escalate when a medical issue arises for your or a loved one. Chronic stress can also show up as medical vulnerability. With decades of training and working alongside medical professionals, I am always honored to support clinicians in tending to their own health and well-being.

The beauty of therapy lies in building a meaningful, trusting relationship where openness and honesty thrive. It’s a space where clients can be their authentic selves, free from judgment or stigma. A therapist helps uncover unseen values and beliefs, fostering immense growth. In this time together, you gain control over your life, thoughts, and emotions. Therapy is your moment to give yourself permission to prioritize your well-being, break free from limitations, and break through to new possibilities. In therapy it is your time breakout and break through.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Therapists

When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.

What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilization, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counseling.

How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?

The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.

What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?

If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
