As an experienced counseling supervisor and therapist trainer, I attempt to provide the best counseling experience to all the individuals with whom I help.
I believe in helping a person overcome the problems and situations that are faced in life, not just treating a diagnosis. My philosophy is to provide a private, comfortable, and non-judgmental environment where everyone can feel safe no matter age, beliefs, lifestyle, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, cultural background, or life circumstances. I provide a laid-back conversational approach and regularly use activities, art, music, technology, toys, and games to help everyone feel comfortable as well as gain skills. I try to provide flexible appointment times (Appointment times are subject to availability).

I specialize in providing clinical psychotherapy, supervision to provisionally licensed social workers in North Carolina, consultation, clinical training, and intensives to individuals, groups, and agencies.
I’m Dr. Nicole Johnson, founder of Mindful Counseling Services, PLLC. I understand the complexities of life and their impact on our relationships, expectations of self, mood, and general functioning. These issues may stem from attachment impingements, trauma, grief, loss, and complex or unexpected transitions. Symptoms related to mental health challenges can be debilitating. They can stunt psychosocial and emotional development along with relational and professional achievements. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience, and I strive to provide a personalized approach to help you achieve your therapeutic goals.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Supervisor with over 25 years of experience
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you feel trapped in a loop of overthinking that is hard to get out of? It takes courage to reach out for help. You second guess yourself and it often ends up as tension or unease in the body. You find your mind racing. You have tried to manage your feelings in different ways but nothing seems to give you long lasting relief. You end up feeling stuck, worried about the future and what to do next. It can feel hopeless and its hard for you to deal with the uncertainty of everything right now. You have tried more traditional therapeutic approaches and didn't get the result you were hoping for.

I also teach and provide supervision to master's and PhD students.
At times, we all need to be validated and affirmed to feel understood and seen. But to make long lasting changes, we also need to be challenged. As your therapist, I can do both. I work with clients who want to take responsibility for themselves and their lives. Who are willing to step outside of their comfort zones bit by bit to change unhelpful patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Instead of circling around the same old things that are keeping you stuck, together, we will identify strategies that allow you to fully participate in your life.

Clinical Supervision and Licensed Supervisors Therapists
Clinical supervisors provide formal supervision, guidance and expertise for pre-qualified professionals and those seeking supervision for their everyday practices. While each membership organization has its own unique requirements, professionals offering clinical supervision help new practitioners advance their clinical knowledge, and satisfy requirements leading to full qualification.
