You've found amazing workarounds to manage the challenges in your life, possibly challenges that you just believed everyone else was trying to workaround, too. Whether it's people-pleasing, intellectualizing, isolating, or some other way of making things work, you did it. Now you're realizing that you've been short-changing yourself. Your strategies have costs. Like underlying unaddressed depression and anxiety. Those costs are starting to outweigh the benefits. You're thinking it might be time to make a change, you just don't know what or how. It's always been like this.

In my relational work, I've offered tailored support to clients in polyamorous or kink-based relationship dynamics for five years.
Over the course of our lives, we are told stories about ourselves. Oftentimes those stories aren't true. Sometimes they're harmful. Usually they get in the way of us being able to truly understand ourselves and grow in the ways we want to. I work with clients to explore the stories they hold about themselves, their own definition of mental wellness, and the tools that might help them to move toward it. I am excited to offer individuals, partners, families, and friends a sacred, therapeutic space to sift through those stories, where they come from, and whether they serve you or block you from a fuller taste of joy.

As a white, queer, non-binary therapist at Carolina Sexual Wellness Center, my approach is eclectic, anti-racist, body-neutral, and queer, neuro- and kink-affirming.
One of the most incredible gifts we can offer ourselves is the curiosity and courage to look inward. However, this is often so much easier said than done. We live in a world where it’s easy to internalize shame and misinformation about sex and sexuality and talking about it can feel taboo. As your therapist, my goal is to build a supportive, safe environment to explore notions of sexuality and intimacy with curiosity rather than judgment or shame. In our space together, vulnerability, trust, and self-compassion will be nurtured – and celebrated!

Many of us grew up with the idea that sex and gender identity are topics best kept quiet, creating silence and stigma around these issues. This often leaves people feeling alone or unsure of where to turn when they face challenges. That’s where sex therapy can make a difference. Imagine a space where you can openly talk about anything, including sexual health, relationships, intimacy, or gender identity, without fear of judgment. At Carolina Sexual Wellness Center, you’ll find a supportive environment designed to help you explore these important topics, gain valuable insights, and work towards a more fulfilling, connected life.

Hopefully you're here because you want something to be different. Sometimes talking to someone who isn't involved in your life can help put things in perspective, help you see things in a new light, or find solutions to the things that get in the way of your finding meaning and purpose. Maybe you just need a listening ear. I believe that therapy works, or I wouldn't be doing it. I love what I do.I believe in it. My goal is to be real and approachable, and to empower you to find healing in your own way. You won't typically find me telling you what to and how to do it because I don't think that works for most.

When you're stuck in painful patterns—like self-doubt, relationship struggles, or unhealed wounds from the past—it can affect every part of your life. You might find it hard to connect with others, trust yourself, or feel at ease in your own skin. Setting boundaries may feel impossible, and you might carry the weight of responsibilities that were never yours to begin with. Over time, this emotional heaviness can lead to anxiety, sadness, fear, or a sense of being lost. When everything feels too tangled or too heavy to hold alone, it’s hard to know where to start.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to feel truly whole again, not just pieced together? Starting a therapeutic journey takes courage, and I genuinely commend you for being here! As Brené Brown wisely states, “Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”

You're questioning everything you were taught to believe. Maybe you're leaving fundamentalism, deconstructing purity culture, or realizing that the relationship you thought was sacred was actually harmful. You're exhausted from performing. Your body carries shame, vigilance, and grief you don't know how to process. You want to reclaim spirituality on your own terms—or leave it behind entirely. You need someone who understands that healing from religious harm or abuse isn't about finding new answers, but learning to trust yourself again. You're ready to stop abandoning your body and start listening to it.

For over 12 years, my priority has been creating a safe, supportive space for healing that dismantles the shame that often accompanies trauma. Whether you’re new to therapy, returning after a break, or seeking a better fit, I’m here to help. I primarily work with people navigating the impact of past trauma—childhood or adulthood—as well as those processing grief and loss. My practice also serves individuals from marginalized communities. Some clients engage in long-term therapy, while others prefer short-term support to get back on track. Wherever you are, you’re welcome here.

10/30/25: Accepting NEW Clients! I specialize in working with trans and nonbinary individuals navigating the layered impacts of complex trauma—particularly trauma rooted in relationships, identity invalidation, and systemic oppression. Many of my clients come to therapy carrying the weight of early attachment wounds, chronic misattunement, boundary violations, and experiences of erasure or violence, both within their personal lives and the world at large. Trauma doesn’t just live in the past—it lives in the nervous system, in relationships, in the way we move through the world.

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Therapists

Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?

A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialized knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.

Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?

Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organizations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.

How can individuals recognize a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?

An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognize a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?

Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
