If your child or teen has big or dangerous behaviors and emotions, we may be a good fit. I tend to work with children who have had several other therapists and have been in and out of the hospital for dangerous behaviors. The families that I am honored to support are ready to do the work and are ready to make meaningful changes.

My ideal client would be a teen or young adult trying to navigate life. They may bring to our sessions their need for acceptance and belonging, needing positive peer interactions, anxieties, and career exploration. We would develop goals together and establish what they want to get out of their therapy sessions. They come with a "want to change" attitude and are willing to put in the work. The goal is for my client to get a better understand of themselves and what is in their control and work on a better them.

I’ve built my practice around over a decade of experience working with high-risk adolescents and their families, aiming to integrate systems in their lives that will improve outcomes over time. Clients don’t come to me to stay in therapy for years; the goal is to gain insights and skills that will help them to move forward in a healthy and balanced way. My work rehabilitating rescue horses integrates seamlessly into my work with humans as they heal in parallel processes. Horses and nature are integral in aiding the formation of healthy habits and thought patterns as we process trauma and improve overall health.

If you're a woman who feels overwhelmed, anxious, or constantly puts others first, you're not alone. You do not have to keep living this way. Many of the clients I work with are used to being "the strong one," the dependable one, the one everyone turns to, while quietly feeling exhausted, unappreciated, or emotionally drained. You may struggle with anxiety, overthinking, or feeling like you're never doing enough. You might find yourself in unhealthy relationship patterns, giving more than you receive, or feeling guilty when you try to set boundaries. The weight of responsibilities to prioritize has become harder on yourself....

I have worked with a very diverse population and like to start with what my clients identify as their needs. Though I'm active and make observations and give guidance, I will quickly make it known to you that I want your feedback even if it is different from mine. This includes my work with adolescents and children as i know they are often reluctant with therapy yet want to be heard and this is how i join with them. Please think of your goals before coming in because this way you can determine if you are satisfied with my services. I am happy at this time to also offer Telepsych therapy sessions as an option

Medication is not the only answer.
It is only one piece of the puzzle and can only address part of the problem. One cannot emphasize enough the role of exercise, a healthy diet, getting a good nights rest, learning healthy coping skills, setting healthy boundaries, prioritizing our life and setting realistic expectations. We want people to know they are more than a diagnosis. We want our team to make a change in our patients' lives so that they can care for themselves, their family and finally, their community.

I am a Christian and a therapist, my faith shapes the deep respect I have for every person’s story. I believe each therapeutic encounter is a sacred and unique exchange—an opportunity to witness the dignity of another and honor the life narrative unfolding within them. I also understand and welcome the presence of doubt, questioning, and non-belief. I hold space for all backgrounds and journeys, including those still in process or outside of faith traditions. My hope is to assist you in recognizing your personal gifts and contributions, and together create a new experience that nurtures

Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?
PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.
How long does PCIT last?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.
Can PCIT be done online?
PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.
Does PCIT help parents?
In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
