Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists in Raleigh, NC
As an individual, child and play therapist, I work with ages 3 and up providing sound, evidence-based treatment approaches. I strongly believe in creating a partnership with individuals and families, orienting my approach from a trauma informed lens. I also believe that therapy does not have to be a dreaded task to be completed, but can be a warm and nurturing environment where we move towards goals set by you. In our time together, we might use mediums such as sandtray, clay, painting, storytelling, walking, and even play to move towards set goals. Expressive Art Therapy can be for everyone- unless you prefer it not to be.

The process of working with a new client is to gather pertinent information about the client's psychosocial, environment, and past family history to help accurately diagnose the client. Once a diagnosis is made then a treatment plan would be developed conjointly between the client and me utilizing S.M.A.R.T. goals. S.M.A.R.T. goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based goals that would help the client be successful in treatment. If you are looking for a counselor who is genuine, compassionate, authentic, and who will listen and care about your concerns. Then I am here to help you restore your self-worth.

I offer therapy with adults and older teens (generally 16+) and enjoy working with a variety of topics like anxiety, depression, stress, OCD, ADHD, disordered eating, chronic illness, young adulthood, identity, and relationships.
In therapy, I hope to offer an affirming, nonjudgmental space to practice shifts from being hard on ourselves toward being kind to ourselves. I take an integrative approach prioritizing the therapeutic relationship while drawing on elements of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), narrative therapy, and more.

At times, we all need to be validated and affirmed to feel understood and seen. But to make long lasting changes, we also need to be challenged. As your therapist, I can do both. I work with clients who want to take responsibility for themselves and their lives. Who are willing to step outside of their comfort zones bit by bit to change unhelpful patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Instead of circling around the same old things that are keeping you stuck, together, we will identify strategies that allow you to fully participate in your life.

Choosing the right therapist can be a challenging decision, especially when they are working closely with you or your child. It’s important to find someone who listens to and understands your concerns while also being supportive and nurturing. I want to emphasize that I provide a safe environment where empathy, encouragement, and laughter are integral parts of the therapy process. Most importantly, I believe that building a strong relationship with each individual is essential for healing.

Sometimes life feels, and is, harder than it looks from the outside. Old wounds show up in unexpected ways: through self-doubt, strained relationships, or just that sense of bracing yourself all the time. It’s exhausting, and even when things are “fine,” it can feel like you’re never fully at ease. Underneath it all is a desire for more steadiness, clarity, and a chance to actually enjoy life instead of just pushing through it. That's where therapy can make a difference. It can enable self trust and self worth that creates endless resilience.

I work well with clients of all ages. I have experience working with many different disorders through my time in Intensive In-Home therapy and working at a psychiatric hospital. I also work with anxiety, low self-esteem, attachment issues, and OCD (I'm trained in ERP!).
Are you struggling with persistent, intrusive thoughts about past unpleasant events? Do you often ask yourself, "Why can't I just move past this?" Have these experiences made it difficult to connect with others? If so, you may be suffering from PTSD. As a certified clinical trauma professional and someone with my own lived experience of trauma, I understand how trauma impacts the brain and body and the effect this can have on daily life. While we cannot change the past, I can offer you tools and therapeutic approaches to help these events feel more distant and easier to manage in the present.

My counseling practice is tailored to working with adults with issues including relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, parenting issues, life stressors and transitions, and spiritual crises. It can be difficult finding the "right fit" in a counselor and I am available to discuss my approach more fully and answer questions prior to the first appointment. For individual issues I use a Cognitive Behavioral approach which has proven to be highly effective in a reasonable time frame. In couples counseling I work quickly to identify areas where couples get "stuck" and identify practical tools that have been proven effective.
