Do you feel like you're running into the same walls over and over? Maybe your relationship isn't what you dreamed it would be, old hurts keep showing up uninvited, or you're tired of wearing a mask just to get through the day. If you lie awake wondering why everything feels so heavy and connection seems so hard to find – especially if you've heard "that's not something we do" or "just pray about it" – I get it. As a Black therapist with over 30 years of experience, I offer a safe space where you can be fully yourself, heal those deeper wounds, and build the genuine connections you're looking for.

It's more than feeling stuck. You’re frustrated, angry, and feel a quiet panic as you realize the path you've taken hasn't led to the life you envisioned. The choices that once made sense now feel like they've trapped you, and the gap between where you are and where you thought you'd be grows wider every day. Anxiety seems like your constant companion. It’s getting harder to find motivation, to feel pleasure and to connect to what matters. Maybe you've turned to alcohol or other substances just to quiet your mind, to finally sleep, or to catch your breath from the relentless weight of it all. When will it be your time to shine?

Freud is credited with stating that two things really matter in life: love and work. I help people find greater satisfaction with a) their relationships with themselves and others, and b) what they do to make meaning in their lives. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to help you maximize your spiritual, physical, and emotional potential. Operating from an orientation which draws primarily on a combination of contemporary psychoanalytic, attachment, and neurobiological perspectives, I am fully committed to walking with you on your journey toward greater satisfaction and fulfillment.

Trauma and PTSD, Men's Issues, and Depression
I love dogs, specifically Boston Terriers. I love music and was a touring musician for a bit. I love sports and am the type to wake up at 4am on a Saturday to watch a soccer match. Humor is so important. Long walks on the beach are cool, too. I say all this because before I am a therapist, I am a person with interests and hobbies. In my opinion, too much of the traditional therapeutic process can feel sterile and impersonal. This approach might not work for all but hey, honesty is important. You may have told social media about your mental health acting up, now tell a licensed professional.

I believe that every problem has a solution and that solution lies within the person that is experiencing the problem. Life is to be enjoyed and if you are not enjoying your life it could be because of distractions. It is those distractions that sometimes causes us to feel overwhelmed, unhappy, frustrated and sometimes empty. My goal as a therapist is to help you explore those distractions and become the best version of yourself. It is my duty as a therapist to develop a rapport with each individual and create an empathic, open, understanding judgment, and bias-free environment for immediate and lasting change

Accepting new clients for virtual sessions. Are you STUCK in unhealthy relationship patterns with yourself, your family, and maybe even your friends? Do you have difficulty saying “no?” Are you having difficulty with setting and maintaining boundaries that keep you emotionally safe. Unhealthy relationships can leave us heartbroken, unfulfilled, and feeling invisible. We begin to question our own enoughness! We become numb, sad, disconnected. Sometimes we give up on relationships all together while longing to be loved and validated. We get STUCK between a hurting or healing.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
