It's inevitable - couples will experience challenges in their relationship, and become overwhelmed by them. Like many of my clients, you may find you're emotionally distant, stuck in ongoing arguments, engaging in destructive language, hurt from acts of betrayal , or dealing with patterns of interactions that diminish love, security, and connection. The attempts to "fix it," or re-connect, are at times promising but don't last long. If you've found yourself in this place, struggling to find hope where it once existed, reaching out to a therapist can be intimidating because you're not sure if it will be worth it, or helpful.

and that they cannot trust anyone because they of betrayal wounds.
Most individuals I see are looking for help on finding answers to the questions “Why am I this way? Why do I feel this way? Why am I acting this way?” They are plagued by anxiety, depression, and low self – esteem. They suffered from feelings of inadequacy and have a hard time regulating their emotions. They struggle with forming and maintaining healthy relationships because they keep repeating self – defeating patterns of behaviors that include becoming anxiously fearful that their partner may leave or engaging in superficial relationships that lack intimacy and closeness. Most of them carry beliefs that they are damaged or broken

I support my clients with tools for healthy relationships, grief, betrayal , divorce recovery, anxiety, codependency and trauma.
Do you and your partner feel like strangers sometimes? It's hard when you're fighting, there is silence, and your sex life reflects that disconnection. It can be heartbreaking that this might be the end of your relationship. Maybe it started after the kids were born or maybe you've just grown apart. The reason doesn't matter but you can't ignore the distance between you any longer. Like many, you may feel more like roommates than lovers, and you want so much more for your partnership. Through couples counseling, I can help you strengthen your relationship before it breaks apart completely.

Also help with recovery from affairs and Discernment Marital focus.
I see the breakdown of communication as a primary problem in couples, stepfamilies and friends. Being able to really listen and understand and talk is critical to building good relationships. Knowing your own feelings, being able to express anger and hurt constructively- these are skills we often don't learn growing up but need to have for our own growth and for relationships. I have marital training from Terry Real Institute (Level I) and Gottman Institute (Level II)

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
