NOT taking new clients! Do you struggle with feeling happy, communicating clearly, or building fulfilling relationships? Are you aware of how past trauma is still affecting you? Understanding your past can be the key to your future! Together, we will explore issues such as survival of interpersonal violence, an addicted parent, witnessing a violent event, natural disasters and other traumatic events that have contributed to your addictive behaviors, mental illness, or unhealthy relationships. With this knowledge we will discuss healthy coping skills, building a support network, and planning for safety in the face of your triggers.

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate, Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, &
EMDR
trained therapist. I specialize in treatment of complex trauma & pregnancy loss. These credentials qualify me to be a therapist but what do they mean? Some say the letters after someone’s name have become like alphabet soup. No one knows what they mean & no one really cares. So here’s a little about my counseling philosophy. My primary framework is attachment focused. I believe humans are designed to enjoy connection with others. From before birth our bodies & brains are already making connections to significant people in our lives.

I utilize some CBT, Gestalt Therapy, MI, and
EMDR
along with other creative strategies to help improve symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and past or present hurtful relationships.
Therapy is for everyone and anyone. Therapy in its simplest definition is connection. Connection to self can be created through the therapeutic relationship and experiencing someone who listens intently, without judgment, offering a reflection of your unexpressed wants and needs. Connection to friends, family, or partners can be experienced as you individually begin to heal your past and present. I enjoy working with adolescents, teenagers, and adults who are experiencing disconnection at school, work, and/or home.

) therapy for unsettling memories from the past and a Perinatal Mental Health Trained provider.
Sometimes life doesn't end up as we imagined. Reality can be more difficult than we expected. You may be thinking, why didn't anyone prepare me for this? Why didn't anyone say it would feel this way? You may feel depressed and sad or anxious and panicky. You may be more irritable and frustrated with those around you. You might even have thoughts that you can't get out of your mind. You are not alone.

I’m working on certification with
EMDR
in order to provide trauma focused therapy to my clients.
I believe the best aspect about therapy is the ability to create a meaningful therapeutic relationship with another built on trust and open honesty. Further, clients are able to be their authentic selves during that time without fear of judgment or stigma. A therapist can notice values or beliefs that have not been seen, and challenge one to grow beyond measure. In therapy and the time together, it is the moment when you can work to feel more control of your lives, thoughts, and feelings. It’s the moment where you can give yourself permission to do what is best for you. In therapy it is your time breakout and break through.

EMDR Therapists
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an information processing therapy that helps clients cope with trauma, addictions, and phobias. During this treatment, the patient focuses on a specific thought, image, emotion, or sensation while simultaneously watching the therapist's finger or baton move in front of his or her eyes. The client is told to recognize what comes up for him/her when thinking of an image; then the client is told to let it go while doing bilateral stimulation.
