I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including Client-Centered therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, Family Systems, Play therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral therapy.
If you find yourself feeling low and unmotivated to accomplish tasks, feel out of control because your emotions or thoughts are intense, or maybe you feel like there needs to be a change in your lifestyle, this could be a launch point for getting into therapy. As a therapist I hope to create a safe and welcoming environment for people to feel comfortable sharing their life experiences with me at their own pace. There are also times in which life circumstances may be overwhelming, or certain trauma triggers are continuing to be an issue, we can work on how to manage the difficult emotions in order to function in any environment.

My trifecta of treatment primarily consists of Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
I don't believe in the ideal client. I believe in real people in need of real help. If you're human, looking for a shoulder to lean on, and are hoping to learn a little something along the way than I may be a good fit for you. My job isn’t to judge or criticize. My job is to see, hear, accept, and encourage you. I am here to see you for who you are and gain your trust one hour at a time. I consider myself a generalist therapist, which means I think I am competent in working with a broad range of concerns. If I do not think I am competent with a particular concern you can trust that I will get you in touch with someone who is!

I believe that therapy is not just about addressing problems, but also about growing emotionally and becoming the best version of yourself. Through teaching techniques like those in Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT), I can help you learn how to manage emotions, build resilience, and improve your relationships. Plus, if you’re an animal lover, you’ll appreciate my experience with Animal Assisted Therapy, where we may incorporate my two adorable Cocker Spaniels, Stella and Moose, and my bunny, Caramel, into sessions.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who utilizes a strength-based approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT).
Seeking therapy is a courageous decision of choosing ‘you’. I recognize the significance of choosing therapy in vulnerability, and I feel passionate about walking alongside individuals on their journey of healing and growth. Each person’s experiences and emotions are unique, and as a therapist, I recognize that this individuality is a vital tool in healing. I partner with my clients to unveil and process their unique emotions in an empathetic, safe, and non-judgmental approach. Therapy is not only a passion of mine; most importantly, it is an honor.

Our therapists are training in EMDR, CBT, ACT, and DBT modalities.
ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS (Couples, Families and Children) Everyone struggles at some point in time in their lives. Acknowledging this to another person can be incredibly difficult yet, freeing. True strength is in recognizing our faults (because we all have them.....yes we do) and working to change them. That is why we say the healthiest people are sitting in our office. The healthiest people are those who can acknowledge that they can't do it alone. Sometimes we need to trust in other people to guide us and give us perspective. It can be a challenge to open up to friends and loved ones for fear of judgement or rejection.

My techniques and treatment approaches include: EMDR, Playful EMDR, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Sandtray (I &II) Filial Play Therapy, Synergetic Play Therapy, CBT, Adapted DBT, and TF-CBT.
As a child, individual, and family therapist, I work with ages 3 and up (young children, adolescents, teens, adults, and families) providing sound, evidence-based treatment approaches. I strongly believe in creating a partnership with individuals and families, orienting my approach from a trauma informed lens. I also believe that therapy does not have to be a dreaded task to be completed, but a warm and nurturing environment where there are mediums such as sand tray, clay, painting, walking, and even play to be incorporated. Art and play are for everyone- unless you prefer them not to be.

After the holidays, it is beneficial to reevaluate our goals and do a mental health inventory. I am scheduling clients for the upcoming new year. When our emotions saturate our minds, it can be difficult to function. I can help. I utilze a holistic approach, DBT, CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and Goal Setting. A therapeutic alliance will be developed centering around empathy, acceptance, and compassion. Life will become less stressful, more manageable, healthier, and happier! There are solutions that will improve coping skills, communication, stress management, relational problems, and any obstacle you may be encountering.

I have 35 years of experience and additional training in Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, DBT, and Touch Training for therapists.
Thank you for your interest in my practice! I am trained in the Transforming Touch modality. It is a Regulation-based approach rooted in the theory that when we experience ruptures during our developmental years, these disruptions continue to affect our lives at any age. These ruptures can be seen as challenges that are behavioral, psychological, spiritual and physical. Developmental Trauma affects every part of our growth and development. It orchestrates how we learn, how we mature, how we relate to others. Transforming Touch is an innovative way of supporting change in our nervous systems so that we can begin to hope and dream.

My therapeutic approach revolves around helping people transform perceived weaknesses into newfound strengths, revealing the hope that always lies within. That glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel? It's real, and together, we'll find it.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
