Substance addiction, anxiety, trauma, anger, codependency and fear keep us from achieving our goals and being the best version of ourselves.
Using an eclectic mix of cognitive behavioral therapy, reality therapy, person centered therapy, trauma-focused therapies and client education, I help clients to develop a deeper understanding of their experiences and how those experiences have shaped them. These experiences are part of us but do not have to define us or dictate our futures.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a safe haven for you to explore, discover and heal the authentic you! After a long day of being what the world needs you to be, HERE together is where we unmask and uncover who you truly are -- HERE is where happiness lives. I have a passion for the therapeutic process by deconstructing learned behavior and patterns while bringing blind-spots into awareness so that motivated clients can make conscious changes and show up in the world, life and relationships joyfully engaged as your true self.

Have major parts of you been overshadowed by the stress of just trying to survive and get by? Have the expectations and demands from others to be a certain way left no room for self-discovery, acceptance and expansion? Painful past experiences, childhood trauma, and oppressive environments have taught many of us to silence our needs, prioritize others, not trust ourselves, and bury our true feelings. You are on the path to the next phase in your journey, and you don't have to navigate it alone. I know that even in light of the inner drive to reclaim authenticity, experiences from our past can linger and get in the way.

I believe that everyone faces challenges throughout life — whether from past experiences, relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, or the everyday weight of stress. Whether they're a child looking to connect, an adolescent struggling to find themselves, an adult looking for ways to navigate the stress of life, or a family looking to communicate more - each one of us is seeking to belong. My role as a counselor is to offer a safe, supportive space where you can feel seen, explore your story, and begin to uncover the strength and answers within yourself.

Hi, I'm Kim. I help millennial women unpack their own childhood "stuff" while planning for or raising their own children. If Instagram keeps feeding you eldest daughter and/or toxic family dynamics memes, welcome! You're in the right place.
Since you’ve found yourself here, I’m guessing you might say that you’re outwardly successful but still find yourself feeling inadequate. I'd also guess you’re feeling burnt out; like you are simultaneously doing too much and not enough.
I work with women who are ready to untangle those patterns and reconnect with themselves, but don't know where to start on their own.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.
What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.
How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.
What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
