Substance addiction, anxiety, trauma, anger, codependency and fear keep us from achieving our goals and being the best version of ourselves.
Using an eclectic mix of cognitive behavioral therapy, reality therapy, person centered therapy, trauma-focused therapies and client education, I help clients to develop a deeper understanding of their experiences and how those experiences have shaped them. These experiences are part of us but do not have to define us or dictate our futures.

Have major parts of you been overshadowed by the stress of just trying to survive and get by? Have the expectations and demands from others to be a certain way left no room for self-discovery, acceptance and expansion? Painful past experiences, childhood trauma, and oppressive environments have taught many of us to silence our needs, prioritize others, not trust ourselves, and bury our true feelings. You are on the path to the next phase in your journey, and you don't have to navigate it alone. I know that even in light of the inner drive to reclaim authenticity, experiences from our past can linger and get in the way.

Change can be difficult for many people but wanting to feel better is a start. I believe that challenges lead to growth and an opportunity to live a more fulfilling life. Common reasons for seeking therapy include difficulty adjusting to life changes and transitions, dissatisfaction in significant relationships, coping with traumatic life experiences, and difficulty managing feelings. I work with individuals and groups to lessen the impact of trauma; develop healthy boundaries and coping skills; improve relationships and communication skills; and increase self-esteem/self-acceptance.

Hi, I'm Kim. I help millennial women unpack their own childhood "stuff" while planning for or raising their own children. If Instagram keeps feeding you eldest daughter and/or toxic family dynamics memes, welcome! You're in the right place. Since you’ve found yourself here, I’m guessing you might say that you’re outwardly successful but still find yourself feeling inadequate. I'd also guess you’re feeling burnt out; like you are simultaneously doing too much and not enough. I work with women who are ready to untangle those patterns and reconnect with themselves, but don't know where to start on their own.

You may be here because traditional therapy never quite fit. You’re self-aware, intuitive, possibly neurodivergent, and spiritually curious, but religion and colonized systems don’t resonate. If you’re the black sheep, cycle-breaker, or someone who’s felt misunderstood in therapy, you’re not alone. I offer trauma-informed, somatic-based therapy, like EMDR, grounded in neuroscience while honoring intuition, ancestral wisdom & the mystical. When aligned with your beliefs, I integrate mindfulness, energy awareness, & astrology alongside modern psychology. Together we process trauma, increase nervous system safety & honor divine wisdom.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
