Your emotions sweep you off your feet, making balance feel impossible to achieve. You try suppressing your thoughts and feelings, but the underlying causes go unaddressed and you get stuck in the same shame spiral again and again. It's normal to have big emotions, but what would life look like if you learned how to ride these waves and still work towards the things that matter most to you? Although change can feel daunting, it really is one foot in front of the other. I want to walk beside you as you discover and embrace your authentic self, and channel your strengths to cultivate resilience as you work through the tough stuff.

Looking for a space to talk without feeling judged? Maybe you're finally ready to sort through the constant tension in your relationship? I'm here to meet you where you are and walk with you at your pace. I tend to be gentle and non-directive, using "motivational interviewing"— it helps you find your own reasons for change. But at the right moments, I also be honest and direct to help you see what might be holding you back. Real change takes both: non-judgmental support and honest insight. The ultimate goal is to graduate from therapy with the confidence to regulate your emotions and align your actions with your values.

I’m a PsyPact-licensed psychologist, which means I can work with folks in North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and 39 other states. My path to this work is personal. Growing up, I often felt like I didn’t quite fit in — like my feelings were too big, and I didn’t know what to do with them. I know how lonely it can feel to think something might be wrong with you. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping others find clarity, connection, and a little more kindness toward themselves.

Mental health is an essential part of our well-being. Taking care of our mental well-being is as important as our physical well-being. Unfortunately, for some, mental health falls last in Maslow's hierarchy. Taking care of ourselves and finding balance is not easy. It takes time and may even require multiple attempts. I want to create a space where making mistakes and being imperfect is welcomed, creating a safe environment where you can be exactly who you were meant to be. I always remind my clients during our sessions that the only person judging them is themselves.

Asian Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
A culturally sensitive therapist would be respectful and considerate of different groups, with regard to race, sexual orientation, gender, and other factors that are important to an individual. These considerations can help a client feel understood as well as validated. While some people think highlighting race could promote stereotypes and bias, more understanding and knowledge about cultural differences is a positive for a healthy therapeutic alliance.

How can I recognize an effective Asian therapist?
You can discern a lot by asking how familiar the potential therapist is with different cultures, as well as asking how they might address issues related to identity, values, and beliefs. Also inquire about their education, as well as any particular training they may have completed, such as cultural sensitivity or diversity and inclusion programs.

What if the therapist does not have my exact background?
The therapist may not share a client’s exact background, but the therapist may have plenty of hands-on experience as well as the sensitivity needed for therapeutic progress. Their sensitivity to different populations will help the client feel accepted and comfortable in sharing their concerns and difficulties.

How might I inquire about a therapist's experience with Asian clients?
A therapist with an Asian background may have experience within their community, as well as broader cultural sensitivity. Ask the potential therapist whether they've worked with individuals who share your background. If they have not worked with similar clients, they may well know someone who has such experience.

Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of Asian therapists?
The directory of Asian therapists includes professionals who have shared their ethnicity in their profiles. Psychology Today uses this information to assist clients in finding a therapist who can provide a cultural match. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their ethnicity in their profiles, and they may not appear in search results for this reason; also, when the number of therapists identified as Asian is limited, the directory will also show therapists with comprehensive experience working with clients from relevant backgrounds.
