I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than 23 years of experience providing therapy to women, through my work at Duke. I work with women who are coping with anxiety, mild to moderate depression, and/or chronic health issues. I have extensive experience working with issues related to complex trauma, difficult early childhood experiences, and low self-esteem. I provide a safe and supportive environment, in which to discuss difficult topics, as you are ready.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University College of Behavioral Sciences, Twin Cities, Eagan, MN. I also have been a Licensed Practical Nurse, since 1990. I have completed education in sex therapy, from University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menamonie, WI. I have been working since 2014 as a therapist. I also have experience working with veterans, and have worked in both acute inpatient psychiatric hospital and outpatient intensive therapy.

I enjoy meeting clients right where they are and partnering with them to consider and predict the natural consequences which come to bear based on choices. My approach to therapy integrates mindfulness with solution-focused and reality-based approaches. I am EMDR trained as well and we can incorporate this as needed. Dr. Peter Panagakis is a Psychologist in North Carolina who has been practicing since 2007. He has a PsyD from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and an MA from Boston University. Dr. Peter first became interested in the field of psychology during high school where he had the joy of being introduced to the field by his favorite teacher. An avid sports fan and athlete, Dr. Peter imagined working in a world where sports and psychology were combined "“ a dream he later achieved through his background in Sports Psychology before realizing that his true passion is for traditional psychotherapy.

My practice over the past 25 years as an LCMHC has allowed me to help people of diverse backgrounds overcome a variety of life's challenges. I help people by meeting with them, learning about their problems and discovering ways for them to feel more at ease. The most common issues that I help people with involve their moods (for example sadness, worrying, anger or stress) and with their relationships. The type of psychotherapy I do is very intense and short term compared to other types of counseling. It’s called Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. It means that we explore the ways your thoughts, beliefs and feelings affect each other.

Lindsay Underwood is a Licensed Psychologist in North Carolina who has been practicing since 2014. She earned her B.S. in psychology from York College in Pennsylvania before going on to earn both her Master’s and Doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Hartford in Connecticut. Lindsay can provide an array of psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to address a variety of concerns and provide clarification on a number of presenting problems. She works with clients to help answer questions they may have about their functioning and provide recommendations to help address their concerns.
