Navigating life's journey can be overwhelming. For over twenty years, it has been my privilege to meet people where they are and partner with them in difficult seasons. It is my experience that having someone to share your burdens can often provide healing and the courage to seek physical, mental, and spiritual wellness.

My experience includes working with individuals, couples, and families across a range of ages and backgrounds, but I currently focus primarily on teens-young adults.
Sometimes we know something isn’t working in our lives—but we’re not sure how to fix it. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck in unhelpful patterns, struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, experiencing relationship challenges, or going through a major life transition. Whatever brings you here, your needs—your why—are at the heart of the work we'll do together. I’m a goal-focused therapist who believes therapy should be active and collaborative—not just sitting on a couch talking about problems. Together, we’ll identify what’s getting in your way and build practical tools to help you move forward.

Needed: 1099 counselor. Contact if interested. Please leave me a message so that I can return your call ASAP. Thank you. No one as a child stated, "I want to abuse drugs" or "I want to experience trauma" (ie car wreck, rape). Life happens and sometimes it becomes out of control. Understanding trauma and/or addiction, or even them together, can help an individual to feel as though they are being heard. It is my honor to help you walk through your pain and begin to live life once more without the heaviness of the past.

I work with Black and Brown women, groups, and couples facing work stress, chronic health, mental health, self-esteem, body image, self-care, or relationship challenges.
Life can feel heavy sometimes, can’t it? Life be lifin’—and you don’t have to carry it all alone. Maybe you’re juggling work, relationships, parenting, caregiving, or health challenges and holding more than anyone should. Maybe stress, anxiety, or disconnection has you feeling stuck. Or maybe you just want to reclaim your time, energy, and sense of self. That’s where I come in. I’m Lolita (or Lo), and I help people untangle what’s weighing them down, find clarity, and introduce tools to navigate life with more ease, confidence, and self-compassion.

Medication is not the only answer. It is only one piece of the puzzle and can only address part of the problem. One cannot emphasize enough the role of exercise, a healthy diet, getting a good nights rest, learning healthy coping skills, setting healthy boundaries, prioritizing our life and setting realistic expectations. We want people to know they are more than a diagnosis. We want our team to make a change in our patients' lives so that they can care for themselves, their family and finally, their community.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
