You didn't expect life to look this way. Are you paralyzed by anxiety? Overwhelmed with the state of the world and our country? Feeling disconnected from others? Feeling unseen and unheard? Are you struggling to meet the high expectations of yourself and the expectations of what the modern woman is? Have you found yourself thinking; these are supposed to be the happiest days of my life, why am I not happy? Am I a good Mom? Am I being too controlling? Everyone else seems to be able to do it all. Why can't I? Am I making the "right" decisions with my children? Life does not have to stay this way.

We might look at thoughts which affect your emotions or at expectations/beliefs that might be the source of distress, maybe evaluate and identify values or work on emotion regulation and mindfulness.
When you feel stuck or your coping strategies stop working, I provide a safe space for the collaborative work of healing. I view therapy like two people climbing separate mountains: while we are both hikers, my perspective allows me to see the rocky terrain or hidden paths on your mountain that might be hard to spot while you're climbing. As an expert on yourself, you bring the map; I provide the tools to help you navigate it more effectively.

Balancing life has become more difficult than usual. The emotional weight of showing up every day can feel exhausting. For those working in education, constantly pouring into students, families, staff, and systems can leave little room to care for yourself. You may find yourself feeling emotionally drained, overwhelmed, disconnected, or even fantasizing about running away and starting over. Waking up, going to work, managing responsibilities, and simply doing life can begin to feel overwhelming. You may catch yourself wondering, “There has to be more to life than this.”

Our lives do NOT get better by chance or happenstance, they get better by CHOICE! Congratulations on making a huge choice towards a more meaningful change in your life. We all come from various backgrounds, experiences, and will all face difficulties at one point in our lives. It's at that point, that we desire more, something different, a shift that will assist us from where we are, to where we desire to be, and I am here to assist you on that journey.

You lived in a narcissistic relationship for way too long. You’re doing your best not to fixate on all that you were told you did wrong – all the times you were berated, laughed at for your stupidity, and put down in front of friends and family. Your phone sits face-down. Picking it up means another spiral. Putting it down means another hour of wondering if you were the problem all along. You swing from defiant independence to insecure co-dependence. You used to know what you liked. Now you can't remember if you actually liked any of it, or just learned to. Facing an uncertain future alone is terrifying and paralyzing.

The ways we learned to cope and survive don't always help us thrive. Overthinking, people-pleasing, self-doubt, and relationship struggles often have deeper roots than we realize. Helping people break those cycles is what I love to do. As a therapist (and former people-pleaser), I understand how frustrating it can be when your brain knows one thing but your emotions tell a completely different story. Whether you're navigating anxiety, unhealthy relationships, unresolved trauma, or struggles with self-esteem, therapy can help you understand the patterns beneath the surface and create lasting change.

Living in darkness can be challenging, unattended mental health combined with substance use can be a very dark place. Oftentimes, we do not recognize there is a light that lies ahead. If this describes or resonates with you. Know that you are not alone—and I am here to help. Indeed, healing commences with real human connection and therapy can be a space that feels comfortable, a place where you can exhale and find moments of clarity and even humor as you show up just as you are.

Maybe you're tired of being on the anxiety roller coaster. Or you've been dropped smack dab into the land of grief and you feel lost. You may be grieving a death or some other kind of loss: a marriage, a friendship, your health... Or maybe what you've lost is you. You don't know how you got so far away from who you are and the life you wanted. Or maybe you don't know what's going on with you or what you need, you just know you need something other than this, something better than this. For over twenty years I've helped people find that something better.

Feeling constantly at odds with yourself is exhausting. You're tired of the worried, self-critical thoughts running through your head, the energy you spend on trying to perfect or "fix" yourself, and the feelings of never being enough no matter how hard you try. You wish you could slow down and relax, but it's hard to feel deserving of rest and boundaries. You want to feel cared for, but sometimes shame gets in the way of expressing yourself authentically with others. You're ready to experience more peace, joy, and connection- it's wearing you out to feel like satisfaction in life is a moving target.

I support individuals and families through major life transitions, relationship challenges, and the complexities of high-conflict divorce and narcissistic abuse. Clients often find their way to me when they’re feeling isolated, drained, or unsure how to move forward. For many, these struggles also shake their sense of faith, identity, or purpose. I welcome those conversations and offer a space where emotional well-being and spiritual grounding can support one another.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
