You didn't expect life to look this way. Are you paralyzed by anxiety? Overwhelmed with the state of the world and our country? Feeling disconnected from others? Feeling unseen and unheard? Are you struggling to meet the high expectations of yourself and the expectations of what the modern woman is? Have you found yourself thinking; these are supposed to be the happiest days of my life, why am I not happy? Am I a good Mom? Am I being too controlling? Everyone else seems to be able to do it all. Why can't I? Am I making the "right" decisions with my children? Life does not have to stay this way.

At the core of my work is a deep belief that we are meant for connection. I work with individuals who feel worn down, overwhelmed, or shaped by past trauma, and with couples who feel distant, stuck, or unsure how to find their way back to one another. Together, we slow down and gently make sense of what you’ve been carrying, creating space for healing, clarity, and new ways of relating that feel safer, more honest, and deeply connected.

Many issues bring people to psychotherapy. Perhaps something feels off in your life—dissatisfactory; painful. Maybe there has been a loss, or a reckoning. You might be rebuilding, or dreaming of possibilities, or barely keeping your head above water. Perhaps, like many, you are contending with grief. My work is with adults from all backgrounds. Often, the individuals I support are navigating several areas of focus, including but not limited to: chronic pain and illness, dissociation and dissociative identities, complex trauma, histories of abuse, relationship challenges, searches for meaning, and family of origin concerns.

The ways we learned to cope and survive don't always help us thrive. Overthinking, people-pleasing, self-doubt, and relationship struggles often have deeper roots than we realize. Helping people break those cycles is what I love to do. As a therapist (and former people-pleaser), I understand how frustrating it can be when your brain knows one thing but your emotions tell a completely different story. Whether you're navigating anxiety, unhealthy relationships, unresolved trauma, or struggles with self-esteem, therapy can help you understand the patterns beneath the surface and create lasting change.

Life in general, can be challenging. I believe in the healing power of telling your story in a judgement-free environment where you feel safe. Research consistently shows it is the quality of the therapeutic relationship, more than any other factor including the method of therapy, predicting the clients’ ability to use therapy to help themselves and make positive life changes. Therapy does not always solve the problems brought to it, but the best chance for success is when there is a strong therapeutic relationship. To me, the critical foundation of our counseling relationship is a partnership based on mutual respect and honesty.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
