You didn't expect life to look this way. Are you paralyzed by anxiety? Overwhelmed with the state of the world and our country? Feeling disconnected from others? Feeling unseen and unheard? Are you struggling to meet the high expectations of yourself and the expectations of what the modern woman is? Have you found yourself thinking; these are supposed to be the happiest days of my life, why am I not happy? Am I a good Mom? Am I being too controlling? Everyone else seems to be able to do it all. Why can't I? Am I making the "right" decisions with my children? Life does not have to stay this way.

Many of my clients are high-functioning individuals who are used to holding everything together for everyone else while quietly struggling themselves. They may be navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, self-doubt, life transitions, or relationship challenges while appearing “fine” on the outside. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from yourself, therapy can provide a space to slow down, process your experiences, and build healthier ways of coping. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, balanced, and empowered in your daily life.

As a counselor, I use techniques from evidence-based practices, which means the techniques have been proven by research to be effective. I draw from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT )motivational interviewing (MI), and parts work. I utilize a person-centered, strengths-based approach, and I prioritize trauma-informed and gender-affirming care. My therapeutic lens relies heavily on attachment theory, as well. I see attachment as playing a major role in how we relate to others.

Life happens—and sometimes it feels overwhelming, isolating, or just plain hard. My passion is helping people navigate those moments with compassion and practical support. Whether you are struggling with relationships, managing stress, working through grief, or simply trying to find your sense of self again, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be heard and supported. I believe therapy is not about “fixing” you, it’s about walking alongside you as you uncover your strengths, heal from past pain, and build tools to move forward.

I approach counseling with a holistic and person-centered perspective pulling from Gottman, EFT, mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy, and existential therapy as well as other evidence-based practices when appropriate.
My passion is serving the LatinX community whenever possible. I also enjoy working with new parents who are expecting their first child or just welcomed their first child into their family. This time in life is very tender but can also create anxiety, stress, relationship tension, and bring up one's own childhood wounds as parents step into this new role. Working with couples in relationship distress, especially within the LatinX community, is an area of passion and purpose for me. In addition, I work with older teens and adults on a variety of struggles including anxiety, depression, life transitions, and grief/loss.

When you're with your partner have you ever felt being physically together yet feeling 1000 miles apart emotionally? Are you tired of feeling alone in your relationship, disconnected, and not feeling understood? It's as if you are talking to a stranger, living in the same house but simply roommates or business partners. Successful relationships are not for the faint of heart. Real intimacy takes work. We don't see the work it takes in movies or fairy tales. We just see the happily ever after.

Life can throw us some major challenges and often people can end up in survival mode, panic mode, or just struggling to get out of bed in the morning. Counseling provides resources and support for moving out of these modes into well-being, health, and joy. Each person comes to counseling with their own strengths and challenges. My job as a therapist is to support each person as they move towards their goals such as decreasing anxiety and depression, healing from old wounds or trauma, learning skills to manage emotions or experiences, exploring themes such as identity and self-esteem, working through relationship conflicts, and more.

My client's often see me because they feel stuck. The things that usually work aren't working the same and they are wanting to try something new - a different approach. We often work on discovering and exploring you and identifying your authentic self. This becomes a space to share with safety in mind and without judgement. We work through learning new skills, exploring the parts of our life that are contributing to the stress in our life, and learning that we don't have to be too hard on ourselves.

I am Level 2 Gottman and Level 1 EFT certified and have experience working with newlyweds and long-term married couples, military couples, lgbtq couples, and interracial/intercultural couples.
Many of my clients come to me when they feel stuck in their relationships, overwhelmed by responsibilities, or weighed down by stress and self-doubt. Some are reeling from conflict or betrayal in their marriage, while others feel like they’ve lost their sense of direction at work or at home. In our sessions, we slow things down enough to see the patterns that are keeping them stuck and the emotions that are often hidden beneath the surface. From there, I help clients begin to make sense of their experience and find new ways of showing up with more clarity and connection.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
