I appreciate the variety and have the skills to help a wide range of patients, but I'm especially useful with patients who've had problems connecting with other therapists. I'm very familiar with physical and sexual abuse, but also with alienation and with spiritual and emotional trauma. Adoption and attachment issues are also a special interest. I'm trained and certified (Level II) in EMDR and DNMS, trauma-based treatments for people whose developmental needs were not met as children. I have extensive experience working with PTSD and dissociative patients, but also with "plain vanilla" folks -- of varying ethnicities -- challenged by difficult circumstances.

My new practice is now open! While Sonder Counseling & Wellness is a new practice, I am definitely not new to helping others as a LCMHC and a High School Counselor. I know finding support can be hard - from deciding you want to open yourself up to and trusting someone else to be a part of that process to realizing there is something you are struggling with. Sometimes the struggle is even finding a therapist who has availability (which can be discouraging in itself, I know!). But realize every step is one in the direction to you being a happier you, and you’re worth the time and energy it takes!

I'm currently accepting new client appointments and have immediate availability. Do you or someone you know struggle with pushing away big emotions? Many people try to avoid painful feelings and thoughts. Avoiding and ignoring painful emotions feels good at the moment and can help you survive trauma. However, if you continue to ignore emotional pain, your body can store that pain. As a result, you may feel numb or easily overwhelmed. Avoidance can become addictive, diminish your tolerance, and can lead to you choosing harmful methods to cope with stressors.

Why? It's such a simple word with so much importance. As humans, it is in our nature to ask this question about ourselves, others, and the world around us. Sometimes the answer may not be so clear. That's where therapy can help. I work with teens and adults who ask themselves this question every day. Perhaps you have experienced trauma at some point in your life, you're going through major changes, or you're struggling to truly find yourself. No matter where you are in your life, there is strength in asking for help.

In my practice, my aim is to foster a safe and judgment-free space where healing and growth can flourish. Many of the individuals I work with struggle with issues like anxiety, depression, addiction, betrayal trauma, grief, and experiences of abuse.

I have experience working with childhood trauma, sexual and emotional abuse, PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression, as well as clients who identify as LGBTQIA+.
"When 'I' is replaced by 'We' even 'illness' Becomes 'Wellness'" --Malcolm X. This is my approach to therapeutic intervention. Healing the body, mind, and spirit will create overall 'wellness.' Why is it that we make appointments to take care of our physical health, but we seem to ignore our mental health? Therapy doesn’t have to be a scary or painful event, it should be a place where you can open yourself to the journey to reach your full potential. I realize that calling a therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you will take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help you.

By endorsing a trauma-informed care (TIC) model, we recognize the prevalence of trauma and its impact on the lives of the people we serve.
All of our journeys are unique. It is important that each individual finds a path to wellness that is comfortable for them. At times, life brings challenges and roadblocks that require us to seek outside supports. I strive to provide a safe and caring, judgement free environment for individuals to explore and unpack life's difficulties. I provide effective care and give individuals the respect they deserve.

Is your deepest desire true connection? ... AND your greatest fear? Let me help you release those false beliefs and transform your relationships with the most effective trauma therapies. I practice NARM, EMDR 2.0, Psychodrama and various other modalities. Developmental trauma and/or chronic trauma (C PTSD) can set deeply entrenched patterns of behavior that traditionally are hard to shift with just talk therapy. Most clients see real shifts in their behaviors and relationships that not only allow them to feel better, but actually start to thrive, not just survive.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
