It has been said that the phrase "may you live in interesting times" is an ancient curse of unknown origin, and we certainly have entered into "interesting times." Though me may long to return to the imperfect stability we once knew, time moves forward, never backwards. I'm Dr. Sara Rosenquist, a licensed psychologist dedicated to supporting people of all walks of life through the emotional complexities of our current moment in history. With a deep understanding of how the mind works, my goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for healing and growth in the midst of overwhelming uncertainty.

You can feel connected, safe, confident, and energized in your life and in your relationships. This is your work to do, for your self, for your relationships. Together, we'll identify thoughts, beliefs, and relational patterns that block authentic connection to self and others. We will resource existing relational skills and practices and develop new ones. We will explore how boundaries management increases emotional and relational safety and connection.

I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), EMDR, Schema Therapy, Gottman Method, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you stop the chaos and experience healing in your life.
Porn addiction? Sex addiction? Has an affair or sexual behavior put your relationship at risk? Many clients contact me after promising themselves or their partner they would stop, yet finding the behavior keeps returning. If secrecy, porn use, or sexual behavior has created shame, conflict, or a crisis in your relationship, you’re not alone. I help clients understand the deeper patterns driving these behaviors and develop practical strategies for lasting change. Recovery from sex addiction is possible with the right structure, accountability, and support. Contact me to schedule an appointment.

When we come to therapy, often our choices have not led to the life we desire. Under the influence of anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress, or the allure of substances, pornography, spending, etc., it can seem like life is out of our control. Rather than be controlled, we desperately want to be free to pursue what is truly good. Therapy then is an opportunity to not only find freedom from mental turmoil, but to realign life toward what is worth pursuing. The goal, then, is not simply to “not feel” a certain way, but to be drawn into something much greater that transforms our mind, our relationships, our work, our spirit.

You may be motivated for change but still feel stuck, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained. On the outside you may function well, yet internally you’re carrying anxiety, chronic stress, mood symptoms, or worry. You might notice emotional swings, people-pleasing, or that old coping strategies no longer work. You want a safe, nonjudgmental space to understand the links between thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and body sensations, and a collaborative plan that builds self-compassion, boundaries, and tools. Your goals may include reducing stress, improving emotional balance and relationships, and living more in line with your values.

You don’t have to hit rock bottom to want something to change. Therapy is a collaborative space where we identify patterns, try new strategies, and help life feel more manageable—at your pace. Life can feel exhausting when the same struggles keep showing up, especially when you’ve already tried to make things better. I work primarily with adults and adolescents who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected and want to feel more like themselves again.

My ideal client is someone age 16 and older — a teen, adult, couple, or family — who is seeking a safe, collaborative space to work through challenges in life and relationships. They may be carrying trauma, specifically childhood trauma, unresolved pain, or unacknowledged parts of themselves that have been hidden, shamed, or invalidated. Often, they are looking for relief from the weight of past experiences, the stress of current struggles, or the fear of repeating unhealthy patterns.

I believe therapy should be a collaborative effort between client and therapist. While I may share some evidenced-based ideas during our sessions, only you are the expert on what works for you. My sessions will generally follow a cognitive behavioral approach, meaning that we will examine, and possibly shift, your thoughts and perspectives on life situations that are causing you enough distress to want to pursue change. Together we will form a plan of action that is the right fit for you at this point in time.
