Modalities used, (such as CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing), are chosen to best fit the current needs of my clients.
Life transitions are a part of our journey and, while some are rewarding, some are a challenge. Whether you are struggling with something personally or professionally, you could benefit from working with a therapist who understands and can help guide you through the work to initiate change in your life. My approach is holistic, honest, and interactive with a little humor thrown in when needed. Clients appreciate my authenticity and ability to “be real” with them regarding how best to tackle current issues and concerns. I encourage my clients to start with small steps and move toward what speaks to their heart and their values.

In isolation, no one can heal healthily; knowing and understanding this truth is the cornerstone of how I view the art of counseling. Simply put, if you're in a place where you've become aware that you need support in your strides towards your healing, that's awesome and powerful! Though discomfort may arise in the process, you've already established the greatest step.

The journey to and through motherhood isn’t living up. Each passing week leaves you exhausted, numb, angry, empty, and—frankly hopeless. You keep wondering, “why didn’t anyone tell me it would be like this?” You’re not the only one. There are so many parts of the journey to motherhood that we can’t control. Let’s take some time to grieve that loss of control—after all, you’re probably used to being able to achieve pretty much whatever you set your mind to.

Throughout my life I have become so aware of the importance of having someone who will listen, someone who will offer compassion without judgment. Throughout my career I have strived to place that understanding in focus as I worked with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and the lifelong pains of trauma.

I use an eclectic approach to therapy, incorporating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT).
My clients tell me they can’t stop thinking about food. A large part of their day revolves around what they’ll eat next, and time with loved ones can start to feel stressful or even avoided because of worries about what will be “safe” to eat. Often, people feel stuck in a cycle. They might feel like they’re “doing well” for a while, only to find themselves overeating or bingeing later, followed by shame, guilt, or frustration. Along the way, most have been given confusing, and often harmful, messages about their bodies and what they “should” look like.

Are you questioning whether trauma or neurodivergence might help explain why focus, organization, social situations, or sensory experiences feel so challenging? Many clients come to therapy feeling emotionally exhausted from navigating chronic stress, burnout, and the pressure to mask who they are in order to fit into a world that often feels overwhelming. Beneath these struggles, unresolved trauma is frequently at the root. Past experiences, whether childhood wounds, relational trauma, invalidation, or years of feeling misunderstood can shape how you see yourself, respond to stress, and connect with others.

If you’ve tried therapy before but still feel like there’s a missing piece, you’re not alone. Maybe you understand where your anxiety comes from. Maybe you can intellectualize your trauma, recognize unhealthy patterns, and explain why you react the way you do, but something still feels stuck. You may find yourself thinking, “I know better, so why do I still feel this way?” That’s often where deeper trauma work and EMDR can help. I work with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, substance use, identity exploration, and major life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling exhausted from constantly surviving and overthinking

Some people spend so much of their lives caring for others that they forget they deserve support, too. Whether you're a first responder carrying the weight of difficult calls, a woman navigating pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, or menopause, or someone balancing the demands of a high-stress career with your relationships and personal well-being, therapy can be a place where you no longer have to carry it all alone.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
