Healing often begins with a single, courageous step — and here you are. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years helping young people find their voice as a teacher. Now, I walk alongside teens and adults who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in grief, or uncertain about their place in the world. Together we work to develop the skills and understanding they need to build the life and relationships they want. Whether you’re a young adult struggling with anxiety and academic stress or an older adult navigating life transitions and unhealed wounds, I offer warm, collaborative therapy to help you reach your goals.

Hey, I’m glad you’re here! I'm a therapist that's passionate about supporting adults and teens navigating Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, Neurodivergence and LGBTQIA-related stressors. I am well versed in helping clients cope with the pain and stigma associated with chronic illness, and have a lot of experience helping folks to find safe strategies to handle separation, divorce, domestic violence and complex trauma histories. I understand how isolating it can feel when we're handling this alone, and the way the weight of carrying it all can impact our relationships with family, community, school, work - and especially ourselves.

My ideal clients are people who've spent most of their lives feeling like they don't quite fit. That might be someone who is neurodivergent and just figuring that out, a young adult finding their footing, or someone who has brushed their own needs aside for so long they're not sure what those needs are anymore. I came to counseling through education, and I brought with me the belief that people grow best when they feel safe enough to be honest. We talk about real things, make real plans, and move at a pace that makes sense for your life.

It has been a dream of mine to work with children and adolescents experiencing a wide array of life stressors to learning disabilities.
Children and adolescents need to know there is someone out there willing to sit and listen to what they are going through and have a support system in which to help them through a challenging time. Counseling is the first step towards taking control over one's life, and finding a counselor that is a good fit is imperative. I believe that therapy is a partnership that allows me the opportunity to help guide you towards your own personal goals.

I work with ages 5 and up, and I enjoy working with various ages throughout the day. Younger clients tend to need a more play-based approach, while older clients tend to prefer having a safe space to talk. I especially love working with teenagers dealing with depression and anxiety with the goals of improving their overall mindsets. Many clients just need someone to hear them, and my goal is to make you feel as heard and comfortable as possible.

I work with clients who struggle with anxiety, self-understanding, and communication. While I generally focus on older teens, young adults, and couples, I also work with those older or younger down to age 12. Often clients aren't sure what their goals are or aren't sure how to begin. I create a safe and supportive space to speak freely so that self understanding can can grow and anxiety can diminish.

Now offering in-person session in Hendersonville, TN. I believe when we focus on our mental health...other areas of our lives can improve. The first and hardest step is to reach out and find someone to help guide you. In my sessions, I use a client-centered approach to provide you with tools to reduce the pressures of life and achieve your personal goals. I enjoy counseling adults of all ages. I enjoy those who are just starting out in adulthood and trying to navigate their path, but I also love working with those adults "with more life experience." Many are now empty nesters and and figuring out their next steps in life.

Maybe you’ve been struggling to hold it all together, whether it’s been for the last few weeks, months, or years. You’ve been juggling so many different roles & responsibilities that you’ve forgotten what it’s like to rest & you’ve forgotten who you truly are. Or maybe you’re a parent - watching your child trying to keep their head above water - but they seem to be weighed down by difficulties with school, friends, self-esteem, or communication, & you don’t know how to help them. Maybe all that’s needed is a compassionate listener. Or maybe what’s needed is a different perspective & some accountability. Either way, I can help.

How effective is treatment for learning disabilities?
When initiated early and tailored to a child’s specific needs, learning disability treatment can be quite effective at helping a child cope with their disability, though its exact efficacy may depend on the severity of symptoms and whether comorbid disorders exist. Less is known about treatment initiated in adulthood, but it is certainly possible that an adult with a learning disability will see some improvement—or at the very least, identify workarounds and accommodations that could make symptoms less burdensome in day-to-day life.

When should someone seek treatment for learning disabilities?
It’s best to seek treatment as early as possible. Because learning disabilities often go unnoticed until a child starts school, or even until they’re a few years along, regular check-ins with teachers and doctors can help parents determine whether children are meeting milestones and keeping up with peers or whether an evaluation for learning disabilities may be warranted. And although earlier is always better, it’s never too late to be evaluated for learning disabilities and to seek treatment.

What happens if learning disabilities are left untreated?
Undiagnosed and untreated learning disabilities can be a source of significant frustration and shame for a child, who may feel that their challenges stem from a lack of intelligence or willpower. Such feelings can trigger low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety, which may push a child toward risky behaviors, including substance use. In adulthood, untreated learning disabilities can interfere with career success, and lingering feelings of self-doubt and shame can negatively affect someone’s mental health.

Are there medications for learning disabilities?
Currently, there are no medications designed to treat specific learning disabilities such as dysgraphia or dyscalculia. However, someone with a learning disability may be prescribed medication for a comorbid condition, such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD, which may have positive downstream effects on their learning disability; for example, a child with both ADHD and dyslexia may find that they’re better able to focus on their reading exercises after being prescribed a stimulant medication.
